People Incorporated, formerly known as IAC, has made a cash offer to acquire all outstanding shares of MGM Resorts International that it does not already own, MGM confirmed on June 1, 2026. The bid stands at $48.30 per share, setting up a potential ownership shift for one of the most expansive resort, restaurant, and hospitality groups in the United States.

MGM Resorts' Board of Directors said it will review the proposal in consultation with financial and legal advisors to determine the course of action it believes is in the best interests of the company and its shareholders. Shareholders have been advised that no action is required at this time.

For operators and hospitality professionals, the implications are significant. MGM's portfolio spans dozens of full-service restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and entertainment venues across Las Vegas and beyond — including partnerships with celebrity chefs and globally recognized food and beverage brands. A change in controlling ownership could influence everything from vendor contracts and culinary programming to capital investment in dining and guest experience infrastructure. Industry watchers familiar with hospitality ownership trends will note that large-scale acquisitions of this type often trigger strategic reviews of non-core assets, including food and beverage operations.

People Incorporated, operating under the IAC name until recently, has a history of acquiring and restructuring major consumer-facing businesses. How aggressively it might pursue operational changes within MGM's hospitality and restaurant divisions remains to be seen, but the bid signals that significant corporate maneuvering is underway at one of the sector's most prominent players.

As reported across the Food & Beverage Magazine network, consolidation within large hospitality groups has been a defining trend, with buyers increasingly eyeing integrated resort properties for their diversified revenue streams — of which food and beverage is a cornerstone. MGM has not indicated a timeline for its board's decision.
