Kei Concepts has announced a new ROL Hand Roll Bar opening at the end of July in La Habra, marking the brand's third Orange County location alongside existing restaurants in Fountain Valley and Irvine. The 2,450-square-foot restaurant seats 32 guests around ROL's signature hand roll counter, where chefs assemble each order to specification before immediate service. The layout mirrors the Fountain Valley location's design, emphasizing the craftsmanship and immediacy central to the hand roll format. ROL's menu centers on made-to-order hand rolls built with warm seasoned rice, crispy nori, and premium seafood. Signature offerings include Uni & Toro, Toro Taku, Scallop, and Truffle Mushroom, alongside shareable items such as Crispy Rice Tartare, Furikake Fries, Chili Garlic Edamame, and donburi bowls. The beverage program includes craft cocktails, beer, sake, and non-alcoholic options like Dragonfruit Lychee Lemonade and Yuzu Guava refresher. "ROL was created around the idea that some of the best sushi experiences are also the simplest," said Viet Nguyen, founder of Kei Concepts. "By focusing on quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and serving each hand roll the moment it's ready, we've created an experience that guests continue to embrace. We're excited to bring that experience to North Orange County and introduce ROL to a new community." The opening comes as Kei Concepts executes broader expansion across Southern California, having recently launched QUA Contemporary Chinese Cuisine, Kei Coffee House, and a second ROL location in Irvine. Nguyen has received industry recognition including Orange County Business Journal Chef of the Year, the publication's Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award, and selection as a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Pacific Southwest Award. ROL Hand Roll Bar La Habra is located at 1202 S. Idaho St., Suites E-F, La Habra, CA 90631.

Why It Matters

Hand roll bars have gained traction among operators seeking fresh-focused concepts with built-in theater—visible preparation drives traffic and supports premium pricing on fresh seafood. ROL's third location signals confidence in the format's repeatability across Orange County markets, while the emphasis on immediate consumption underscores consumer demand for transparency and quality in sushi service.
