A new Guinness World Record was set on May 16 at the TurfMutt Great Lawn in Louisville's Waterfront Park, when power technology company Rehlko clocked the fastest mowing of an area the size of an American football field. The record was achieved using a mower powered by Rehlko's Command PRO® 999 cc (41 hp) gasoline engine, driven by Hali Rieman — widely known in outdoor power circles as the "Lawn Queen."

The event was organized by the TurfMutt Foundation, a nonprofit that champions the environmental and wellness value of managed green spaces. "More than a world record, this feat is a tribute to the health, wellness and environmental benefits that managed landscapes bring to our communities every day," said Kris Kiser, President and CEO of the TurfMutt Foundation, Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, and Equip Exposition.

For hospitality operators, the stunt underscores a practical reality: outdoor green spaces are increasingly central to the guest experience. Hotels, resorts, restaurants with patio dining, and event venues all depend on well-maintained lawns and landscaping to attract and retain guests. The operational demands of keeping those spaces pristine — and the equipment innovations that make it faster and more efficient — directly affect facilities and grounds management budgets across the sector. Our hospitality industry coverage has tracked growing investment in outdoor amenity spaces as a competitive differentiator.

Louisville's Waterfront Park, a prominent public green space, provided a high-visibility backdrop for the demonstration. The TurfMutt Foundation positioned the record attempt as a live showcase of what modern turf management technology can accomplish — relevant not just for residential lawn care but for the commercial and institutional landscape professionals who maintain parks, golf courses, resort grounds, and urban hospitality venues. Food & Beverage Magazine has similarly noted how outdoor environments shape the dining and entertainment experience for consumers.

As outdoor dining, rooftop bars, and resort lawn programming continue to grow in popularity, the tools and techniques behind turf management are gaining relevance beyond the grounds crew. For operators investing in al fresco spaces, efficiency gains in landscape maintenance can translate directly to lower operating costs and a more consistently polished outdoor dining and venue environment.
