New Menu Marks Culinary Shift for Khan's Bowery Venue
Maison Nur, hospitality veteran Nur Khan's downtown dining and nightlife destination, has unveiled a redesigned spring/summer menu by Chef John Poiarkoff, who brings credentials from Union Square Hospitality Group's The Modern and Marta.
The new offering emphasizes French-American fare designed for sharing, paired with an expanded bar bites program meant to encourage drop-in traffic and casual cocktail service. The menu reflects a shift toward more approachable, social dining rather than formal fine dining.
The Menu
Standout dishes include:
- Hamachi Crudo with aji amarillo, avocado, and cilantro
- Le Burger with caramelized onions, comté cheese, and burgundy sauce
- Steak Au Poivre with aged NY Strip, peppercorn sauce, and fries
The menu pairs with a cocktail program by master mixologist Charlotte Voisey.
About Chef Poiarkoff
Poiarkoff "brings a thoughtful yet approachable, experience-driven style to the Bowery destination," according to the venue. His tenure at Union Square Hospitality Group–operated properties, including time as Executive Chef of Marta, positions him as a practitioner of refined but accessible cooking.
The Venue's Evolution
The 217 Bowery location, designed by Khan in collaboration with Jason Volenec of Volenec Studios, features patinated walls, plush mohair banquettes, and a sculptural marble bar alongside artwork by Damien Hirst, Neil Grayson, and Harif Guzman.
As evening progresses, the space transitions from dinner service into a lounge with DJ programming Thursday through Saturday nights. A downstairs nightlife destination, Studio, opens Friday and Saturday evenings with a late-night cocktail and small bites menu.
Khan's Track Record
Khan's three-decade hospitality career includes Rose Bar, Kenmare, Electric Room, Butterfly SoHo, and Two Fifteen at Public Hotel—venues known for blending dining and nightlife into continuous, evolving experiences.
Hours and Details
Maison Nur operates Tuesday–Saturday, 5:00 PM–2:00 AM, with the kitchen closing at 10:00 PM. More information is available at maisonnur.nyc and @maisonnur.nyc on Instagram.
Why It Matters
For operators, the redesign signals how established venues adjust menus and concepts to drive traffic across dayparts. The emphasis on bar bites and flexible dining—moving away from traditional dinner-only service—reflects broader industry trends toward casual, social dining that extends revenue opportunities beyond seated dinner service.
