Malta's St. George's Bay Gets Seven New Restaurant and Bar Venues

Lifestyle Group, a Malta-based hospitality operator, is opening a seven-venue dining and entertainment destination in St. George's Bay this summer, marking a significant expansion of the island's premium food and beverage landscape. The development brings three internationally acclaimed brands to Malta for the first time: Bagatelle, a French Riviera beach club; TATEL, the Spanish-Mediterranean restaurant co-founded by Cristiano Ronaldo; and Paradiso, the Barcelona cocktail bar that won The World's Best Bar award in 2022 and has consistently ranked in the top five since. Accompanying the imported concepts are four original venues created by Lifestyle Group: TANVI, a modern Indian restaurant developed in consultation with the co-founders of London's Kricket; KIRU, an interactive Korean fusion steakhouse and barbecue concept; MATTO, an all-day Italian restaurant with pizza kitchen; and St. George Pub, a contemporary British gastro-pub.

Three Flagship International Concepts Bagatelle will offer day-to-night service combining

refined Mediterranean cuisine with nightlife at a luxury beachfront location. TATEL brings Spanish-Mediterranean gastronomy paired with live entertainment in a glamorous setting. The venue represents Ronaldo's expansion of his restaurant brand across Europe. Paradiso is led by founder and drinks visionary Giacomo Giannotti and features submarine-inspired interiors as the centerpiece of an immersive mixology experience. According to The World's 50 Best, Paradiso Barcelona was named The World's Best Bar in 2022 and has consistently ranked among the top five since.

Four Original Concepts TANVI interprets modern Indian cuisine through refined techniques.

"Developed as a consultancy between Lifestyle Group and Kricket co-founders Will Bowlby and Rik Campbell, TANVI's menu captures the spirited essence of India's culinary traditions in every bite." KIRU positions itself as the island's first interactive Korean barbecue concept, featuring tableside grilling and expertly sourced meats alongside an exceptional sake selection. MATTO is described as a convivial all-day Italian restaurant with open pizza kitchen and indoor-outdoor dining overlooking the bay. St. George Pub combines elevated comfort food classics—including what the operator describes as "the best Sunday Roast in Malta"—with craft beer and live sports programming.

Location and Market Context St. George's Bay is located 20 minutes by

car from Valletta on the island's northeast coast in the town of St. Julian's. The waterfront neighborhood already functions as a tourist hotspot, and the new venues are positioned to elevate the area's status as a dining destination. The timing aligns with increased connectivity to Malta: the island recently launched its first direct flights from New York, expanding access for North American travelers seeking luxury hospitality experiences.

Lifestyle Group's Expansion Lifestyle Group, founded in Malta, operates a portfolio of

restaurants and bars across the island. The company made its international debut in autumn 2025 with the launch of AKI London, an expansion of its Valletta-founded restaurant concept. The St. George's Bay development represents the next phase of its growth strategy. According to Robert Debono, Director and CEO of Lifestyle Group: "With the launch of Lifestyle Group at St. George's Bay, we are redefining Malta's position on the global hospitality map. By bringing together world-class icons like Paradiso, TATEL, and Bagatelle, alongside our own innovative original concepts, we are creating a sophisticated, year-round destination that balances high-energy glamour with authentic culinary excellence."

Why It Matters For hospitality operators and investors tracking Mediterranean expansion, the

development demonstrates how regional hospitality groups are leveraging celebrity and award-winning concepts to establish destination dining clusters. The mix of internationally recognized brands with locally developed concepts—particularly partnerships with London-based chefs—reflects a broader trend of Mediterranean hospitality operators positioning their islands as premium culinary destinations competing with established European centers
