Southern Comfort Food Expands to Louisville's East End The House of Marigold, the Louisville brunch hotspot that opened in 2023 at its Middletown flagship, will open a second location at Norton Commons on August 1 at 10715 Meeting Street. The expansion marks the restaurant's first location to serve dinner alongside its full breakfast and lunch menus. Co-founders Adrienne and Kris Cole, a husband-and-wife team with more than three decades of combined restaurant industry experience, are designing the Norton Commons space as an evolution of the original location. Interior design by Maddox & Rose will feature layered textures, unique prints and patterns, and signature Marigold design details in a bright, welcoming atmosphere. "When we opened The House of Marigold in Middletown, we envisioned a different kind of hospitality for Louisville — less transactional and more like coming home," Adrienne said. "The response from this city humbled us. Norton Commons is our next chapter, and we are bringing everything we've learned about what it means to truly welcome people to a neighborhood that has already done that for so many others."
Menu and Operations The Norton Commons location will operate Sunday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering full-service breakfast and lunch menus, a new dinner menu, craft cocktails, and a robust coffee program. As culinary director, Kris oversees a menu of seasonal comfort food featuring fresh meats and produce sourced from local purveyors. The restaurant was named Southern Living Magazine's "Best Restaurant in Kentucky in 2024." The Coles are also developing a third location at NuLu, slated to open later this year. The House of Marigold is a Black-owned and female-owned business that sources ingredients from minority-owned purveyors. "Kris and I are proud to be part of what Norton Commons is building. The House has a new neighborhood, and we cannot wait to make it home."
Why It Matters
For Louisville operators, The House of Marigold's expansion reflects strong demand for elevated casual dining with authentic hospitality positioning. The Norton Commons opening adds dinner service—a significant operational lift—while maintaining the restaurant's breakfast-and-lunch foundation, suggesting confidence in the market's appetite for all-day dining in this competitive East End neighborhood.
