Texas Golf Operator Exits Driving Range Business
GolfSuites, Inc. has sold its Lubbock driving range to Double Tee Golf & Restaurant, a newly formed local entity that assumes operations effective June 4, 2026.
The transaction marks a strategic pivot for GolfSuites, which will discontinue its golf facility operations to focus on indoor simulator lounge development for both company-owned locations and national franchise expansion.
Local Leadership Takes Over
Double Tee Golf & Restaurant is led by Marc McDougal, Keith McNeese, and Buddy Beach—established Lubbock-based developers and operators. GolfSuites co-founders Jerry Ellenburg and Ryan Koenig expressed confidence in the transition.
"The facility is going into the hands of local, highly experienced, multi-entity developers and operators," they stated in a prepared comment.
The company said the vast majority of staff will remain in place, and Double Tee has committed to maintaining service standards established by GolfSuites since its 2020 launch.
Why It Matters
GolfSuites' exit from traditional golf operations reflects a broader industry shift toward diversified entertainment venues. The move to simulator lounges—a lower-overhead, higher-margin segment—positions the operator to capitalize on growing demand for indoor golf entertainment while reducing real estate exposure. For local operators, the transition preserves jobs and facility continuity under experienced management familiar with Lubbock's market.
