Zac Brown didn't need a vanity wine label. The Zac Brown Band frontman already had the platinum albums, the sold-out tours, and the culinary credibility. But when he approached Delicato Family Wines in 2016, it wasn't about slapping his name on a bottle. It was about building something that reflected the same principles that drive his music: authenticity, craftsmanship, and the belief that the best moments happen when people slow down and connect.

Z. Alexander Brown Wines has quietly earned its place in the super-premium category with consistent 90+ point scores and steady growth. The portfolio—lush, full-bodied Cabernets and reds sourced from family-owned California vineyards—reflects Brown's hands-on involvement in blending decisions and his refusal to settle for anything that doesn't meet his standard. "I know what I like," Brown says. "Wines with depth and structure that are still balanced and easy to enjoy. At the end of the day, I want the wine to complement the moment."

The partnership with Delicato wasn't transactional. Brown flew to Napa after a show, tasted dozens of wines with the Indelicato family, pulled samples from barrels, and shared a meal. "I woke up the next morning knowing these were my people," he says. "Their values—family, stewardship of the land, passion for the craft—lined up with mine. You can taste that commitment in the wines." That alignment matters in a celebrity wine market crowded with brands that exist mostly in marketing decks.

Brown stays involved in the blending process, reviewing samples from each vintage and weighing in on which batches move forward. He's not a winemaker by trade, but he knows what works at the table—and on the road. The Zac Brown Band's Eat & Greets and ZAB Wine Lounge experiences before shows are built around hospitality, and Brown wanted wines that could hold up in those settings. "Whether I'm cooking for folks, stepping onstage, or pouring a glass of wine, it's about making people feel welcome and taken care of," he says.

The owl icon on every label carries dual meaning: spiritually, it represents wisdom and awareness; agriculturally, it's a vineyard guardian that keeps the ecosystem balanced. Brown has an owl tattooed on him. "It's a reminder that when you respect the land and don't try to control every little thing, everything works the way it's supposed to," he says. "That same mindset carries into how we make the wine—take care of the ground, keep a watchful eye, and don't overcomplicate the relationship."

The brand's Uncaged label subtly nods to the band's 2012 album of the same name, but Brown's intentionality runs deeper than branding crossovers. He's not chasing trophies or accolades for himself. "Seeing the wines earn recognition means a lot because it speaks to the work the team's putting in and the care that goes into every bottle," he says. "If my name's attached to it, it's got to be something I'm proud of from the ground up."

In an industry where celebrity wine brands often feel like afterthoughts, Z. Alexander Brown Wines stands out because it's rooted in the same philosophy that's kept the Zac Brown Band relevant for nearly two decades: "Good wine ought to do what a good song does—pull people close and turn a moment into a memory." When the artist actually shows up, it shows in the glass.
