Zac Brown will christen Margaritaville at Sea's newest flagship, the Beachcomber, in Miami on Jan. 9, 2027, performing onboard before the ship departs on its inaugural sailing. The three-time GRAMMY Award winner has been named the vessel's official Godfather, a maritime tradition in which a notable figure helps usher a new ship into service.

A Partnership Beyond Branding

The Godfather designation is the latest milestone in a multifaceted commercial relationship between Brown and the cruise line. Brown collaborated with Margaritaville at Sea on Same Boat, billed as the world's first artist-designed live music venue at sea. The venue draws its name from Brown's hit song "Same Boat," which featured the late Jimmy Buffett — a nod to the longstanding musical bond between the two artists, who first collaborated on CMT's Crossroads and later recorded "Knee Deep" together. Same Boat will showcase a rotating roster of performers throughout Beachcomber's inaugural season, making it a centerpiece of the ship's hospitality and entertainment programming.

On the land side, Margaritaville at Sea is the presenting sponsor of Zac Brown Band's 27-show Love & Fear U.S. Tour. The partnership reached a milestone on Aug. 2 when Brown personally arranged a Margaritaville at Sea cruise vacation for every fan at the band's Fenway Park show — more than 35,000 concertgoers receiving prizes totaling $43 million in vacations, which the company describes as the largest audience gifting event in live entertainment history.

Fleet Moment in Nassau

The Beachcomber launch also sets the stage for an unprecedented gathering of the full Margaritaville at Sea fleet. On Jan. 28, 2027, all three ships — Beachcomber, Islander, and Paradise — will convene in Nassau, where Brown will headline an exclusive concert marking the first time the complete fleet has assembled in one port. For hospitality operators and cruise industry observers tracking experiential dining and entertainment, the event illustrates how cruise lines are leveraging brand-name talent not just for onboard programming but as anchor moments for broader marketing campaigns.

The Beachcomber launches from PortMiami offering four- to eight-night itineraries to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean. The ship introduces more than 15 all-new venues alongside returning Margaritaville at Sea staples, including specialty dining, themed bars and lounges, and the St. Somewhere Spa & Salon. In October 2027, Beachcomber repositions to Galveston, where Margaritaville at Sea says it will offer its most geographically diverse itineraries yet, reaching destinations across Mexico and the Western Caribbean.

"Zac has become an important part of the Margaritaville at Sea family, and naming him Godfather of Beachcomber is a natural next step in a partnership that continues to grow," said Christopher Ivy, Chief Executive Officer of Margaritaville at Sea. Ivy noted that Brown's creative involvement spans design and artwork for the Same Boat venue through to music programming — a level of artist integration that goes well beyond typical sponsorship deals in the cruise and hospitality sectors.

The partnership model — combining tour sponsorship, onboard venue co-design, and headline performance rights — reflects a broader shift in how cruise brands are competing for guest loyalty through curated music and food-and-beverage experiences rather than commodity amenities alone.
