Wyndham taps nostalgia with Route 66 candy promotion Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is marking the centennial of Route 66 with a limited-edition candy collection tied to its loyalty rewards program. The "Flavors of the Open Road" collection launches August 20, with just 100 boxes available at $19.26 each—a reference to 1926, when the Mother Road was established. Each box includes six 2.5-ounce jars of destination-inspired candies and 30,000 Wyndham Rewards points, redeemable for up to two or more nights at participating properties including Days Inn, Super 8, Ramada, and La Quinta.

## Six stops, six flavors The collection spans iconic Route 66 destinations: - Deep-Dish Pizza (Chicago, Illinois): Sweet-and-savory candy inspired by Chicago's signature pie, paired with recommendations for Lou Malnati's and La Quinta Inn & Suites Chicago Downtown.
- Pecan Pie (Tulsa, Oklahoma): Toasted pecan and caramelized sugar flavors, with suggested stops at Merritt's Bakery and Days Inn Tulsa Central.
- Smoked Brisket (Amarillo, Texas): Bold, smoky candy honoring Texas barbecue traditions, linked to Tyler's Barbeque and Microtel Amarillo West.
- Roasted Green Chile (Albuquerque, New Mexico): Sweet-and-heat blend featuring New Mexico's signature ingredient, connected to Monroe's and Baymont Albuquerque.
- Prickly Pear Soft Serve (Flagstaff, Arizona): Bright berry and vanilla notes, with Timberline Ice Cream and Super 8 Flagstaff recommendations.
- Root Beer Float (Kingman, Arizona): Vanilla and classic root beer flavors, paired with Mr. D'z Route 66 Diner and Ramada Kingman. Each collection includes a guide to restaurants, attractions, and nearby Wyndham properties along Route 66.

Sales model and availability The boxes go on sale August 20 at 10 a.m. ET exclusively at WyndhamRewards.com/Route66 on a first-come, first-served basis. Shipping is included in the $19.26 price; tax is additional. The promotion is limited to one box per U.S. household. Michael Shiwdin, GVP of Integrated Marketing, Loyalty & Digital at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said: "The best road trips are defined by the stops you never forget—the barbecue joint you still talk about years later, the diner with the best pie you've ever had or the unexpected local specialty you just can't find anywhere else. That's the magic of the Mother Road. With over 400 hotels near Route 66, Wyndham and its brands have been helping travelers experience adventure at every turn for decades. Flavors of the Open Road isn't just a fun way to give travelers a taste of Route 66, it's about helping them hit the road to make memories of their own."

Why It Matters

For hoteliers and loyalty program operators, this promotion illustrates a trend of blending experiential marketing with points redemption. By tethering a limited-edition novelty product to actual travel rewards, Wyndham incentivizes engagement with its portfolio of 20+ brands while reinforcing Route 66 as a travel destination. The scarcity model (100 units only) and sub-$20 entry price also reduce friction for impulse purchases, making it accessible to casual loyalty members beyond committed road-trippers.
