A kids' beverage brand built on organic ingredients and color-changing cans has crossed into national retail. Wave Kids, the modern children's beverage brand founded by Shelly Garg, began appearing on Sprouts Farmers Market shelves September 28, 2026, marking the brand's first major move from direct-to-consumer into brick-and-mortar distribution.
Three SKUs anchor the Sprouts rollout: Tropical Vacay™, a flat flavored water with orange, pineapple and cherry notes built on organic coconut water powder and ocean minerals; Berry Beach Party™, a flat strawberry-raspberry-blueberry blend sharing the same mineral and coconut water base; and Melon Berry Bliss™, a fizzy watermelon-strawberry water featuring organic acacia fiber. All three use organic agave as a sweetener and organic natural flavors, with no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors. Shoppers can find the line in Sprouts' Forager Finds / New Product Section.
The Category Gap
The better-for-you beverage segment has expanded steadily across foodservice and retail, yet the children's subset has historically lagged, leaving parents to choose between sugar-heavy legacy brands and functional options kids resist. Wave Kids was designed to occupy a third position — drinks that are clean-label and genuinely palatable to young consumers. The brand's 8.4-ounce aluminum cans feature artwork created by children and an interactive color-changing finish, design choices that Garg says give kids a stake in the brand itself.
"Kids grow up. Their drinks should too," said Shelly Garg, Founder of Wave Kids. "Launching at Sprouts is a huge milestone for us because it puts Wave directly into the hands of families who are looking for something new, fun and thoughtfully made for their kids."
Garg, a practicing FDA regulatory attorney and mother, launched Wave Kids with a canned plain water before expanding into flavored and fizzy varieties. The Sprouts launch covers three of four new flavors added to the portfolio; a fourth, Apple Adventure, is currently available through the brand's online channel.
Retail Implications
For buyers and category managers tracking the beverage industry's better-for-you trends, the Sprouts placement signals growing retailer appetite for kids' drinks that lead with ingredient transparency rather than character licensing or sugar content. Sprouts' Forager Finds section is specifically designed to surface emerging brands, giving Wave Kids exposure to a health-conscious shopper base that actively seeks out new natural products.
The move also reflects a broader pattern in the non-alcoholic beverage space where digitally native brands use DTC channels to validate demand before approaching specialty and natural retail — a lower-risk path to national scale than traditional food-and-drug entry. For operators and hospitality buyers watching the non-alcoholic beverage category, purpose-built kids' offerings with clean labels represent an underserved niche that could extend into foodservice menus, family dining venues and hotel amenity programs as the segment matures.
Wave Kids' full lineup remains available at Wave-Kids.com alongside the new Sprouts retail distribution.
