Chinese functional beverage maker WALOVI opened its Singapore International Headquarters on Aug. 26, 2026, simultaneously debuting its X-Hero natural energy electrolyte drink outside China for the first time and inking three strategic agreements—moves that signal a serious escalation of the brand's international footprint.
The Singapore hub will oversee global brand promotion, channel management, cross-border investment, and talent acquisition. The company also plans to explore local filling and co-manufacturing models to shorten supply response times across the region. WALOVI cited Singapore's position as a gateway to one-third of Fortune 500 Asia-Pacific regional headquarters as a central factor in the location decision. Southeast Asia is already the brand's fastest-growing export region, with Vietnam, Cambodia, and Malaysia each delivering 100% year-on-year export growth in the first half of 2026.
The Product Play
X-Hero, the drink unveiled at the launch, is formulated with ginseng and coffee bean extracts and is positioned as free from synthetic taurine and artificial caffeine. The product targets what WALOVI describes as a shift in consumer behavior from "post-exhaustion fixes" to sustained daily vitality—a positioning well-suited to the broader functional beverage trends gaining ground globally. Southeast Asia's tropical climate and a regional functional drink market valued at US$21.8 billion (Euromonitor, 2025) give the category real commercial runway. Clean-label preferences are accelerating that opportunity: an Ipsos 2025 survey found 96% of consumers now favor natural, functional, or clean-label beverages.
Three Deals, One Framework
Three partnership agreements were signed at the event. WALOVI reached a brand and consumer research collaboration with Nanyang Technological University; signed a supply chain co-manufacturing agreement with Baosteel Packaging covering Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia; and secured a Singapore retail distribution deal with Sheng Sheng Food. Together, the three agreements operationalize what WALOVI calls its PCBCI model—shorthand for Product, Channel, Brand, Culture, and Investment—its stated framework for market entry.
For operators and buyers tracking the beverage industry's international expansion activity, WALOVI's structure is worth noting. Rather than licensing or a single-market test, the company is layering academic research, manufacturing infrastructure, and retail distribution simultaneously—a capital-intensive but integrated entry strategy.
Fang Dafeng, Chairman of WALOVI Great Health, framed the Singapore move not as an export play but as a maturation of the business: the goal, he said, is to connect consumers worldwide through a natural, healthy lifestyle. The brand has sustained over 25% compound annual growth in international sales and counts footballer Erling Haaland and Chinese actor Zhang Linghe among its global endorsers.
As plant-based and functional beverage formats continue reshaping shelf sets across foodservice and retail channels—a shift tracked closely in restaurant and hospitality purchasing—WALOVI's coordinated Southeast Asia buildout positions it as a supply-side player worth watching for operators sourcing the next wave of health-forward drink options.
