Handcrafted Collaboration Celebrates Portland Creativity Voodoo Doughnut and LAIKA, both Portland-based makers, have partnered to release the Wildwood Wild Berry doughnut, available October 7 through October 28 at Voodoo Doughnut locations nationwide. The limited-edition item arrives ahead of LAIKA's theatrical release of Wildwood on October 23. The doughnut features wild berry cream filling, cinnamon "Voonilla" frosting, and hand-decorated details including the film's signature "W" and ivy motifs. The collaboration reflects both companies' commitment to handcrafted production: Voodoo's doughnut artists decorate more than 35 flavors by hand in-shop, while LAIKA animates stop-motion films frame by frame. "We're honored to celebrate this moment with LAIKA and shine a light on the creativity that comes out of Portland," said Taylor Fish, Director of Marketing at Voodoo Doughnut. "This city is full of artists, makers and dreamers who believe in big ideas and making things by hand. Getting to share a taste of that spirit with our guests across the country is really special." David Burke, LAIKA Chief Marketing & Operations Officer, added: "Portland has always celebrated the imaginative, the unexpected and the handmade, and those qualities are at the heart of both LAIKA and Voodoo Doughnut. Wildwood is a story so deeply connected to Portland, so there is something especially fun about two Portland originals coming together to celebrate it. We cannot wait for people across the country to get a little taste of Wildwood before experiencing the film on the big screen."
Why It Matters
For operators, this partnership demonstrates how confectionery brands and entertainment properties can align around craft storytelling and local identity. Voodoo operates 23 U.S. locations and continues to expand; limited-edition tie-ins tied to theatrical releases provide both promotional lift and menu variety to drive foot traffic during defined promotional windows.
