Live music, food, and beverage programming are converging at Vail Mountain this winter in what the resort is calling its most ambitious entertainment season to date. The destination will host seven on-mountain performances — three more than last season — alongside two brand-new venues and a significantly expanded après lineup that integrates culinary offerings and nightlife throughout the village.

The Headline Acts

GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum electronic artist ILLENIUM opens the season at the newly transformed Dobson Arena on December 11. Southern California DJ and producer Ian Asher follows on January 16, bringing his viral electronic and house sound — including the billion-stream "Makeba" remix that earned him Remix of the Year honors — to the same stage. At more than 56,000 square feet, Dobson Arena has been overhauled into a full-scale production venue while retaining its alpine character, positioning it as a serious concert destination in the Rockies.

The 2025/26 season, which featured on-mountain sets from SOFI TUKKER, Dillon Francis, Chris Lorenzo, and John Summit, laid the groundwork for this expansion. This winter builds on that momentum with additional artists, venues, and mountain activations to be announced throughout the season.

Food, Drink, and Après

For hospitality operators tracking how destination resorts are elevating the guest experience, Vail's food and beverage buildout is the real story. The resort is pairing every headline performance with a structured après ecosystem designed to extend dwell time and drive per-guest spend across the village.

The reimagined Vail Ice Bar returns adjacent to the Legendary Back Bowls Gate, blending an outdoor gathering format with drinks and live music. At the base of Gondola One, the Après All Day series at Express Lift — run in partnership with Outer Range Brewing — will feature more than 50 performing artists every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., nearly double last season's count. The Rabbit Hole nightlife program, Chasing Rabbits, returns with high-energy DJ sets following headline performances, and Stoke Sessions will bring live music every Friday during the first month of ski season.

"There's nothing quite like live music in the mountains, and we're excited to bring even more of it to Vail this winter," said Shaydar Edelmann, vice president and chief operating officer of Vail Mountain. "Working alongside the Town of Vail and our community partners, we're creating more opportunities for guests to come together and enjoy incredible music in a legendary setting."

What It Means for Operators

Vail's strategy mirrors a broader shift in resort and hotel hospitality programming where music, food, and beverage are bundled into a unified guest experience rather than siloed amenities. By anchoring nightlife to named culinary and brewery partners — and structuring après hours around predictable daily windows — the resort creates reliable traffic patterns that benefit on-site and village food and beverage operators alike.

The model also reflects growing consumer demand for experiential spending over transactional visits, a trend well-documented in restaurant and foodservice industry analysis. Resorts that can convert a one-night music ticket into a multi-day food and beverage itinerary are capturing significantly more revenue per guest. Vail's addition of recurring weekly programming — Stoke Sessions every Friday, Après All Day every weekend — suggests the resort is deliberately engineering that behavior rather than relying on one-off headline draws.
