Nearly a year after shuttering, Urban Air Adventure Park in Bloomingdale, Ill. is set to reopen October 3 under new franchise ownership, bringing four additional attractions and a community grand-reopening event to the Chicago-area location.
The 40,000-square-foot indoor park at 140 E Lake St was purchased in May 2026 by three couples — Shivangi Shah, Sangeeta Patel, and Sweta Patel, along with their husbands — who previously partnered on car-wash and other business investments dating back to 2014. Urban Air represents their first franchise venture. "This isn't just a business for us, it's a place we bring our own kids to have fun, and we want every family in this community to feel that same excitement," said Vipal Shah, Shivangi's husband and a manager at the Bloomingdale location.
New Attractions
The reopened park debuts four additions to its lineup: a Laser Tag arena, an AirCourt indoor sport court, a Dodgeball arena, and the reinstated Stairway to Heaven obstacle course. Those stack onto existing signature features — trampoline arenas, ropes courses, climbing walls, the Sky Rider indoor zipline, and multi-level tube playgrounds — positioning the venue as a year-round destination for youth and family entertainment in the western Chicago suburbs. The expansion reflects a broader trend in family entertainment center development as operators invest in diversified activity mixes to drive repeat visitation and longer dwell times.
F&B and Membership Angles
For foodservice operators and hospitality professionals tracking the family-entertainment-center segment, the Bloomingdale location's Urban Café is worth noting. The café serves freshly prepared pizza, snacks, desserts, and beverages, with menu selections developed under the guidance of a Culinary Institute of America-trained chef — a positioning move that signals the brand's intent to compete on food quality, not just convenience. Integrated F&B remains a key revenue lever across entertainment venue foodservice, and Urban Air's culinary credential adds credibility to an often-overlooked part of the guest experience.
On the membership side, guests who enroll as Founding Members by October 3 can lock in a prepaid rate of $157.37, described as offering up to five months free. The time-limited incentive is designed to convert grand-reopening traffic into recurring revenue — a model increasingly common among experience-economy venues competing for household leisure budgets.
Grand-Reopening Event
The October 3 celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes a ribbon cutting with Bloomingdale's chamber of commerce and local leaders, giveaways, and prizes. The first 100 guests in line receive a free year of Urban Air access. Urban Air, part of youth enrichment platform Unleashed Brands, operates more than 400 parks open or under development nationwide, making individual location reopenings like Bloomingdale a data point in the franchise's ongoing footprint strategy across suburban markets.
