New Concept Debuts With Global Food and Wine Stories Taste Food and Wine Group opened Traveler's Table on Friday, Sept. 4, at 1011 S. Fort Thomas Ave. in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. The restaurant centers on what co-owner and executive chef Challis Hodge describes as a commitment to storytelling alongside cuisine. "The idea is not simply to put dishes from different places on a menu," Hodge said. "We want to tell the story behind the food, but also why people eat it, where it came from, what traditions surround it, and what you might drink with it. Food has this incredible ability to connect people to a place, a memory or another culture, and that sense of discovery is really at the heart of Traveler's Table."

Menu Spans Nine Countries and Regions The menu rotates through destinations including Spain, France, Peru, Morocco, India, Japan, Georgia, Argentina and Mozambique. Signature offerings include the Gilda, a Basque pintxo pairing anchovy, olive and pickled pepper with fino sherry or sparkling wine; Flammekueche from Alsace, France, rooted in the region's communal bread-baking traditions and served with Crémant or Riesling; and ceviche from Peru, recognized by UNESCO in 2023 as part of Peru's intangible cultural heritage. The beverage program features wines from both established and lesser-known regions, alongside cocktails, beer and zero-proof options. Co-owner Lauren Hodge, director of guest experience, said the approach prioritizes accessibility over expertise. "You don't need to be a wine expert or an experienced traveler to enjoy Traveler's Table," Hodge said. "You might come in because a dish sounds interesting, because you love a certain wine or because you simply want a great dinner on the patio. Hopefully, you leave having discovered something new and with a story to tell."

Space and Programming The restaurant seats approximately 40 indoors, with additional bar seating and roughly 50 outdoor patio seats. Management plans seasonal dinners, wine-focused events and region-specific dining experiences throughout the year. Traveler's Table operates Tuesday through Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m. The opening follows the Fort Thomas Business Council's 2026 Business Achievement Award given to the group's Taste Cellar & Pantry location.

Why It Matters

The launch signals growing operator interest in narrative-driven menus and discovery-based beverage programs as differentiators in competitive markets. By anchoring cuisine in cultural heritage and pairing stories with thoughtful wine selection, Traveler's Table aims to deepen guest engagement beyond traditional destination or cuisine-focused concepts—a model gaining traction among independent restaurants seeking to stand out.
