Topgolf held a groundbreaking ceremony for Topgolf San Joaquin Valley on the Central California campus of Valley Children's Hospital in Madera, marking the first major tenant in the hospital's broader community development project. The two-level venue will offer golf and entertainment experiences designed for guests of all skill levels, featuring technology-driven offerings across dining, retail, and hospitality amenities. The venue is slated to open in summer 2027. The location represents part of Valley Children's larger vision to build out mixed-use offerings on its campus. According to David McKillips, CEO at Topgolf, the partnership aligns with the company's mission. "From the moment we visited Valley Children's, we knew this was something special," McKillips said. "Topgolf exists to bring people together, and there's no better partner for that mission than a hospital that's spent decades doing exactly that for families across the Valley. This venue brings something new to our California footprint, and we couldn't be prouder to help strengthen this community for years to come."

Why It Matters

For California operators, the venue represents Topgolf's continued expansion into secondary markets and signals demand for experiential entertainment venues tied to community anchors like hospitals. The mixed-use development model—combining food, beverage, retail, and entertainment—reflects broader hospitality trends toward destination venues that drive repeat traffic and extended dwell time.
