Sugarlands Distilling Company is betting that flavored whiskey doesn't have to taste like candy. The Gatlinburg, Tennessee producer launched Broken Antler Flavored Whiskey in 2025 with three initial flavors—Blackberry, Cold Brew Coffee, and Hot Honey—and added Salted Caramel and Spiced Apple in early 2026. More expressions are slated for the second half of this year.
It's a calculated expansion for a distillery that built its name on moonshine but has steadily diversified. Since 2014, Sugarlands has rolled out award-winning products including Roaming Man Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey, High Rock Vodka (a partnership with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Amy Earnhardt), and its Sippin' Creams line. Roaming Man alone has racked up Best Whiskey honors at the American Craft Spirits Association Awards and multiple Double Golds at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
"We've spent the past decade-plus building a reputation for crafting award-winning spirits across multiple categories, and Broken Antler allows us to bring that same spirit and innovation to an entirely new offering," said Sugarlands President and Founder Ned Vickers.
Master Distiller Greg Eidam emphasized that Broken Antler wasn't designed as a flavored extension of Roaming Man. "This line is not about recreating Roaming Man in a flavored format but about expanding our whiskey portfolio in a way that is accessible, distinctive and built for drinkers who appreciate both flavor and quality," Eidam said. The development process focused on balance—letting the whiskey base play a role rather than drowning in syrup.
The brand targets lifestyle occasions where flavored whiskey has gained traction: tailgates, campfires, social gatherings. It's a house-of-brands play, giving Sugarlands another scalable product with its own identity but leveraging the company's existing distribution network and production infrastructure.
Flavored whiskey remains a crowded, often gimmicky segment. Whether Broken Antler can carve out shelf space and back-bar real estate against established names will depend on execution and distribution muscle. Sugarlands has the production chops and the track record. Now it needs the velocity.
