A team of 11 Slim Jim employees spent more than a year engineering a 429-foot-5-inch meat snack stick that a Guinness World Records adjudicator certified on September 9 at Conagra Brands' Omaha campus—eclipsing the previous record of 314 feet set in 2023 by more than 115 feet.

The stick stretched 143 yards—well past the length of a regulation football field—and tipped the scale at nearly 70 pounds. Development began in June 2025, with the team focused on preserving the signature snap that defines the brand, even at a scale no production line was ever designed to accommodate.

Behind the Record

"The record-breaking Slim Jim is a testament to the creativity, expertise and dedication of our team," said Jess Sweley, Senior Vice President of Research & Development at Conagra Brands. "Our people bring innovation to life every day, and we wanted to find a unique way to celebrate their passion."

Juan Amadaor, VP/GM for Slim Jim, framed the stunt as an expression of brand identity rather than a one-off engineering exercise. "Slim Jim fans crave snacks that are big and bold," he said. "That attitude led us to create a Slim Jim stick that's bigger and bolder than anything the world has ever seen."

For foodservice and snack category buyers, the spectacle is worth noting beyond its novelty value. Guinness-certified records have a demonstrated track record of driving earned media and in-store engagement for packaged snack brands, particularly in convenience and impulse channels where Slim Jim holds its strongest distribution. According to Circana POS data through late July 2026, Slim Jim holds the No. 1 position in the U.S. meat stick segment across multi-outlet and convenience retail.

New Product Tied to the Moment

Conagra is using the record-setting moment to amplify the launch of Slim Jim Cheese Mode™, described as the brand's first meat stick to incorporate real cheese in every bite. Available in Cheddar and Cheddar & Jalapeño varieties, each stick delivers 10 grams of protein. The pairing of a viral marketing event with a concrete new SKU is a strategy increasingly common among snack and meat brands competing for shelf space in convenience and grocery channels, where protein content and flavor innovation are primary purchase drivers.

The record attempt's internal dimension—employees at Conagra's Omaha campus witnessed and participated in the certification—also signals an intentional focus on workforce culture and brand pride, themes that resonate across the broader food manufacturing sector as companies compete for skilled R&D and production talent.
