New Retreats Target Female-Specific Wellness Across Life Stages Six Senses is launching "The Yin Way Retreat – The Way of a Woman," a new women-focused wellness program designed to address hormonal health, sleep, and emotional balance across all life stages. The retreats will run at Six Senses Kanuhura in the Maldives (October 1–4, 2026) and Six Senses Kyoto in Japan (December 11–14, 2026). The program applies Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoist philosophy, emphasizing "yin" principles of rest, receptivity, reflection, and cyclical living. Rather than applying male-derived health protocols to women, the retreats are built around a woman's full lifecycle, from pre-pregnancy through post-menopause.
Clinical Leadership and Personalized Approach Hati S.
Malinova, Six Senses Wellness Director and Integrative Health Expert, will lead each retreat. Malinova brings over two decades of clinical experience in female and reproductive health, postpartum care, and family wellbeing, with 12 years previously working at a female health hospital in Shanghai. Her background spans medical and functional health, counseling psychology, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. "Women's wellness has often been treated as a narrow conversation, focused on fertility and menopause, but it is much broader than that," Malinova said. "Women are asking deeper questions about their health, often arriving at Six Senses when calm, sleep, and balance feel just out of reach. Brain fog can begin, and what follows is an overwhelming search for more information on cycles, perimenopause, fertility, fatigue, and the broader impact on relationships." Each retreat gathers a small group of women and includes an integrated wellness screening on arrival, with personalized spa treatments working alongside group sessions.
Program Structure and Offerings Maldives Retreat (Kanuhura) At Six Senses Kanuhura, guests participate in daily yin yoga and sound healing to settle the nervous system, along with hormonal health workshops and sessions at the Alchemy Bar introducing herbs and botanicals traditionally used for hormonal support. A dolphin cruise, communal meals, and personalized spa treatments complement the program. Guests stay in Beach Villas with private pools. Pricing starts at USD 3,361 per person. Japan Retreat (Kyoto) In Kyoto, the retreat emphasizes cultural reflection and traditional Eastern healing. Activities include hands-on kintsugi (the art of repairing broken ceramics with gold), ikebana flower arranging, qigong, Daoist meditation, and labyrinth walking. Dinners feature nourishing cuisine inspired by Japan's 24 sekki (micro-seasons) and Eastern dietary therapy, with curated beverage pairings. Biohacking sessions and access to hydrotherapy facilities round out the program. Pricing starts at JPY 666,000 per person.
Industry Context The retreat responds to a documented shift in women's wellness.
The Global Wellness Institute has identified growing demand for gender-specific health support that moves beyond fertility and menopause management toward longer-term longevity practices. Malinova emphasized that understanding and working with hormonal cycles—rather than treating them as problems—is central to the program's philosophy. "Hormones are not the problem," Malinova said. "The challenge is that we've rarely been taught how to understand them, work with them, or support ourselves through change. Our lifestyles, too, can often be unknowingly inflammatory. With the right knowledge and support, women can begin to recalibrate from within. The Yin Way is the feminine way. It is about moving with your body instead of pushing against it. We spend so much of our lives stretched and striving. Yin reminds us that there is strength in slowing down and truly listening."
