The Move

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation will relocate its corporate headquarters from Charlotte, N.C., to Arlington, Texas, by March 2027, the company confirmed this week. The new primary hub will be Choctaw Stadium, where Six Flags has maintained offices since 2020. The shift centralizes executive leadership and shared business functions within one of the country's most active entertainment and tourism corridors.

For an operator running 20 amusement parks, 14 water parks, and nine resort properties across 13 U.S. states, Canada, and Mexico, proximity to core operations carries real strategic weight. Arlington sits at the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and within reach of five Texas parks — a configuration that gives the company's leadership immediate, ground-level access to a significant slice of its portfolio. CEO John Reilly called the city's location and business climate "a strong base," adding that consolidating corporate teams in one office should improve collaboration and strengthen support for parks and resorts across North America.

Why Arlington

The Arlington decision carries both operational logic and institutional history. Six Flags Over Texas, which opened in 1961, was the brand's founding park and still operates next door to the new headquarters site. That proximity is more than symbolic: Reilly noted that having an office adjacent to one of the company's flagship parks gives leadership a meaningful on-the-ground presence that can translate into faster decision-making and tighter operational integration.

The city also benefits from robust air connectivity and a dense entertainment district anchored by major sports venues, making it a natural fit for a hospitality and leisure company competing for consumer time and spending. For the broader hospitality industry, the relocation underscores a wider pattern of entertainment operators consolidating management infrastructure in Sun Belt markets with lower operating costs and expanding visitor bases.

Capital Pipeline and Park Investment

The headquarters move arrives alongside one of Six Flags' most aggressive capital investment cycles in recent memory. The company's 2027 attractions lineup includes Bakunawa, billed as the world's tallest and fastest spinning coaster, at Six Flags Great Adventure; Werewolf Gorge, described as the world's longest family launch coaster, at Six Flags Fiesta Texas; and Camp Timber Trail at Six Flags Great America, anchored by the Midwest's longest suspended family coaster. Knott's Soak City will add two new family raft slides. In Charlotte, where the corporate office is departing, the company reaffirmed investment in Carowinds and Carolina Harbor, including a new attraction called Rip Roarin' Falls set for 2027.

This capital momentum matters for restaurant and food-and-beverage operators within the theme park ecosystem: sustained guest traffic at a growing park portfolio drives demand for on-site dining, catering, and retail food concepts — categories that large amusement-resort operators have increasingly professionalized. Six Flags' operational scale, with millions of guests annually, makes its strategic direction a meaningful data point for foodservice suppliers, contract dining partners, and hospitality vendors tracking the sector. Our colleagues at Food & Beverage Magazine have closely followed how large entertainment venues are upgrading their F&B programming to extend dwell time and per-capita spend.

The company will maintain an office in Sandusky, Ohio, and said it is committed to supporting Charlotte-based employees through the transition, with relocation opportunities available to many team members.
