The Specialty Food Association has named three San Francisco restaurants — a Mano, Canela, and China Live — as the anchors of its Campus Tasting Trail for Winter FancyFaire 2027, scheduled for January 17–19 at the Moscone Center. The program, now in its second year, embeds exhibitor products into curated tasting menus served at off-floor restaurant venues, giving brands a consumer-facing sampling moment alongside the traditional trade-show floor.

The Restaurant Lineup

Each venue is tied to a distinct day and neighborhood. a Mano, a Hayes Valley pasta-and-pizza spot, kicks off the trail on Saturday, January 16. Canela, Chef Mat Schuster's Spanish-inspired Castro bistro known for tapas and paella, hosts on Sunday, January 17. China Live, a multi-concept dining, cocktail, and retail destination in San Francisco's historic Chinatown, closes the trail on Monday, January 18. The chef-crafted menus will also be available to the general public while supplies last — a detail that extends brand reach well beyond the trade audience.

Why the Return to SF Matters

Winter FancyFaire 2027 marks the SFA's first San Francisco show since 2020, a homecoming with real economic tailwinds behind it. The city is on pace to exceed pre-pandemic tourism spending by the end of 2026 and is projected to welcome more than 24 million visitors. Convention center business is up more than 60 percent since 2024, according to SFA. "San Francisco is in such an exciting phase of growth and reinvention, making it the perfect backdrop for our unique trade show," said Leana Salamah, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at SFA.

What Exhibitors Should Know

Applications for Campus Tasting Trail participation are open now to confirmed Winter FancyFaire exhibitors and close October 2, 2026. Non-exhibitors are not eligible. The trail is one of several enhanced discovery formats the show will offer this year, alongside Discovery Kitchen — a live chef demo stage — and First Taste Table, a bookable seated tasting area. SFA will also present the 2027 sofi Award winners and reveal the 2027 Trend of the Year on the evening of January 17.

With more than 1,000 exhibitors expected, a Debut District for new product launches, and the one-day Good Food Mercantile on the program, the January show functions as the specialty food industry's first major product-discovery event of the calendar year. For operators and buyers sourcing specialty food and beverage trends heading into spring, the Campus Tasting Trail format offers a higher-context alternative to booth browsing — pairing discovery with the kind of full-service dining environment that reflects restaurant hospitality innovation in practice. Early-bird registration pricing was set to increase September 19, 2026.
