The ISO 14001:2026 standard, released by the International Organization for Standardization in April 2026, is the latest revision of the globally recognized EMS framework. The updated version sharpens requirements around climate change, natural resource management, biodiversity, and leadership accountability — raising the bar significantly beyond its 2015 predecessor that Sands China had previously held.
The Numbers
The certification is underpinned by measurable operational results. Sands China reports a 61% reduction in combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared with its 2018 base year — surpassing both its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-validated 1.5°C-aligned target of 30% and the Paris Agreement benchmark. The company also reduced potable water consumption by 9% in 2025 and achieved a 21% operational waste diversion rate across its integrated resorts.
