Sands China Ltd. has become the first integrated tourism and leisure enterprise in Greater China to earn the Great Place To Work Certification™, clearing the bar on its inaugural participation in the assessment. The Macao-based operator of The Venetian Macao, The Londoner Macao, and three other integrated resorts achieved an average score of 92 percent across the certification's five dimensions — Credibility, Respect, Fairness, Pride, and Camaraderie — while 96 percent of surveyed team members agreed the company is a great place to work.

The Workforce Behind the Score

The numbers carry real weight for a hospitality operator of this scale. Sands China employs roughly 28,000 team members and ranks as Macao's largest private employer. By the end of 2026, nearly 15,000 of those employees will have reached a tenure of ten or more years — more than half the current workforce — a retention figure that signals something beyond standard perks programs. Grant Chum, chief executive officer and executive director of Sands China Ltd., noted that the result reflects "the immense trust that our 28,000 team members have placed in the company," and framed that cohesion as a direct driver of operational excellence and service quality.

The certification is issued by Great Place To Work™, a U.S.-headquartered authority that serves more than 22,000 organizations globally. Its Trust Index™ Survey relies on anonymous employee feedback rather than management self-reporting, which lends the credential particular credibility in recruitment and retention conversations. For hospitality operators navigating labor market pressures, a third-party endorsement of this kind increasingly functions as a talent-acquisition asset in competitive hiring environments.

Training, Benefits, and the Long Game

Sands China's workforce infrastructure runs deep. The company's eight specialized sub-academies under the Sands China Academy cover disciplines ranging from MICE and hospitality management to responsible gaming and retail operations. Cumulative training hours delivered to team members exceeded 22.6 million through the end of 2025, providing both vertical and horizontal career pathways.

On the benefits side, the operator has built a suite of family-friendly policies — including seven days of paid paternity leave, up to six days of paid Child Care Leave, and a 90-consecutive-day Parenthood Support Shift — alongside AI-powered health monitoring tools for early risk identification. The company also created dedicated roles for employees with disabilities, a practice recognized as a best case by the Top Employers Institute in a published white paper.

The Great Place To Work Certification™ adds to credentials the company has already stacked: since 2025, Sands China has been recognized as a "Top Employer" by the Top Employers Institute for two consecutive years. Together, the two certifications cover both management-assessed HR strategy and direct employee experience feedback — a combination that reflects a deliberate, documented approach to foodservice and hospitality workforce development that other large-scale integrated resort operators will be watching closely.
