NYC Pizza Chain Expands Toronto Footprint Prince St.
Pizza, the New York-based pizza concept known for its Sicilian-style square pies and crispy pepperoni slices, is opening a second Toronto location at 2472 Yonge Street in Midtown, with a Spring 2027 launch. The new 2,500-square-foot restaurant will occupy a landmark dining space with deep culinary history. The address previously housed Centro, the fine-dining institution founded by Franco Prevedello in 1988, which operated for 25 years. The space later held Vita Sociale and Cibo Wine Bar.
CEO's Homecoming The expansion is particularly significant for Prince St.
Pizza CEO Lawrence Longo, who was born and raised in Toronto. After building his career in Los Angeles, Longo helped grow the New York-born pizza brand into one of North America's fastest-expanding pizza concepts. "I may have built my career in the United States, but Toronto will always be home," Longo said. "I grew up here, and there's something really special about bringing a brand I've helped build back to the city that raised me. The response to our first Toronto location at The Well has been incredible, and Yonge & Eglinton feels like the perfect next step. Midtown has such a great mix of families, businesses, and restaurants, and we want to become part of that community. My vision is to make Prince St. Pizza a household name across Canada, but it all starts right here in my hometown."
Market Performance in Canada Since opening its first Toronto location at The Well in 2023, Prince St.
Pizza has built a following for its signature recipes, premium ingredients, and collaborations spanning food, music, sports, and pop culture. The brand is particularly known for its Spicy Spring slice, topped with crispy, curled pepperoni cups. Founded in 2012 in Manhattan's Nolita neighborhood, Prince St. Pizza operates 20 locations across the U.S. and Canada, built on the Morano family's generations-old recipes and a philosophy that fresh ingredients and handcrafted daily sauces define the slice shop experience.
Why It Matters
The Yonge & Eglinton opening strengthens Prince St.
Pizza's presence in Canada's largest restaurant market while signaling continued growth for the brand in the region. For Toronto operators and real estate watchers, the use of a high-profile former fine-dining address underscores how established pizza concepts are targeting premium retail locations in mature neighborhoods.
