Pig Island NYC Expands Focus on Farm-to-Table Connection Pig Island NYC returns to Snug Harbor on September 12, 2026, for its 17th year with an expanded emphasis on agricultural sourcing and community partnership. The all-day whole-hog BBQ festival will feature New York Pork Producers presenting farm-sourced tastings and a butcher-led whole-hog breakdown, alongside longtime community partner Friends of Firefighters. "It's a unique opportunity to connect people with the animal, the farmer, and the food on their plate," says Emma Kron, Executive Director of New York Pork Producers. "We look forward to sharing the story of New York pork, answering questions, and helping people gain a greater appreciation for the care and dedication that goes into raising high-quality pork." Friends of Firefighters, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing mental health counseling and wellness services to active and retired FDNY firefighters and their families, returns as the event's community partner. "It's about neighbors spending time together, chefs sharing their art, and the understanding that food has the power to create connection, belonging, and care, similar to the culture around the firehouse kitchen table," says Chrissy Neafsey, Associate Director of Friends of Firefighters.
