A husband-and-wife franchisee team has opened Paris Baguette's 82nd California location in Clovis, marking another step in the global bakery-café chain's aggressive push toward 1,000 North American units by 2030.
Anvar and Nikki Tulyag debuted the new café at 3640 Shaw Ave., Suite 101, on September 24. The Clovis unit is the couple's third Paris Baguette in California's Central Valley, and a fourth location in Riverbank is planned before year's end. The Tulyags first encountered the brand in the Bay Area before deciding to bring it to an underserved inland market — a franchisee origin story that mirrors the brand's broader strategy of partnering with community-minded operators to penetrate secondary markets.
The Brand's Scale
With more than 4,000 locations worldwide and 300-plus bakery cafés operating across North America, Paris Baguette is one of the larger bakery-café concepts competing in a segment that has seen sustained consumer interest in artisan breads, specialty coffee, and café-style dining. The brand's domestic pipeline positions it alongside concepts that have made the neighborhood bakery format a priority, a trend our restaurant industry trend coverage has tracked as operators look for differentiated daypart strategies beyond the traditional QSR model.
CEO Darren Tipton framed the expansion in community terms. "We're on a mission to re-establish the neighborhood bakery café as the heart of the community across the U.S.," Tipton said, "and we're excited to see Anvar and Nikki bring this to life in their local trade area."
What It Means for Operators
For multi-unit franchisees, the Paris Baguette model illustrates how a bakery-café format can support rapid local scaling. The Tulyags are moving from three to four units within a single region in under a year, a pace that reflects both operator confidence and the brand's reported infrastructure support. The menu spans artisan pastries, cakes, breads, and handcrafted beverages — a broad daypart coverage that supports morning, midday, and afternoon traffic, which is increasingly important for franchisees managing labor costs across shifts.
The 1,000-unit target by 2030 means Paris Baguette needs to open hundreds of additional North American locations over the next few years, keeping franchise development a central business priority. Operators exploring the bakery-café segment or adjacent beverage-forward restaurant concepts may find the brand's community-anchored positioning and multi-unit franchisee growth a useful benchmark as the category evolves.
As sister publication Food & Beverage Magazine has noted, consumer demand for premium baked goods and specialty coffee continues to drive investment in this format, making Paris Baguette's expansion timeline one of the more closely watched in the segment.
