Oceania Cruises® is rolling out a new onboard enrichment series called Curated Conversations, debuting on select 2027 sailings with celebrity guests including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and actress Karen Allen. The program marks a strategic push by the culinary-focused luxury cruise line to deepen the onboard experience beyond destination and dining — two pillars that have long defined the brand.

The Format

Rather than traditional keynote-style presentations, each Curated Conversations session is structured as a hosted interview conducted by the ship's Cruise Director, followed by an open Q&A. The format is designed to give guests direct access to the speaker and room to steer the conversation — an approach that aligns with the experiential, high-touch hospitality that luxury cruise dining and entertainment programming increasingly demands from discerning travelers.

Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises, framed the launch around the intellectual curiosity of the line's core guest: "Our guests are naturally curious travelers who value discovery as much as the destinations themselves. This program creates rare opportunities to engage with extraordinary individuals whose experiences and perspectives inspire new ways of thinking."

The 2027 Lineup

Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Inc. and one of Silicon Valley's most recognized figures, will sail roundtrip from Miami aboard Oceania Allura from January 27 to February 5, 2027, covering his role in the computing revolution and his continued work in technology and education. Karen Allen — best known for Raiders of the Lost Ark, Starman, and Scrooged — will join Oceania Vista on a sailing from Los Angeles to Papeete, November 11–28, 2027, discussing storytelling, creativity, and her career across film, television, and theater.

Additional speakers across the fleet are planned, with each participant selected for both their professional achievements and their capacity to generate authentic dialogue with guests. Oceania notes that appearances are subject to change.

What It Means for Hospitality

For the broader hospitality and foodservice industry, the Curated Conversations launch signals how luxury operators are rethinking what "enrichment" means in a post-pandemic travel environment. Premium cruise lines — which compete on culinary reputation as much as itinerary — are increasingly layering intellectual and cultural programming alongside their dining and beverage offerings to justify premium pricing and drive repeat bookings.

Oceania, which markets itself on "The Finest Cuisine at Sea®" and maintains one of the highest chef-to-guest ratios in the industry, has long used its food and beverage program as a primary differentiator. Curated Conversations represents an extension of that philosophy into the experiential realm: offering guests something they cannot get elsewhere, in an intimate adults-only shipboard environment that naturally lends itself to meaningful conversation — including, presumably, over dinner after the session ends.
