The Investment

Ocean Casino Resort is committing $14 million to a full redesign and expansion of The Cove, its high-limit slot destination on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, with a debut slated for early 2027. The project, driven by what the property describes as overwhelming demand from premium-play guests, will grow the space roughly 60 percent — from its current footprint to 11,935 square feet — and adds The Cove to a larger initiative to increase the property's overall slot unit count.

The redesigned venue will house more than 192 machines from manufacturers including Aristocrat, Light & Wonder, and IGT, mixing established player favorites with newer titles spanning linked games, progressive-style experiences, and video poker. The Cove will sit adjacent to Ocean's Asian Table Games area, connecting it to an ecosystem of high-limit gaming that also includes a dedicated High Limit Table Games room and The Loft — a private 2,000-square-foot suite perched 44 stories above the city.

F&B as a Differentiator

For hospitality operators tracking how integrated food and beverage service shapes premium guest retention, The Cove's build-out is instructive. The renovation places food and beverage delivery at the center of the guest experience: a curated cocktail menu, dedicated tableside service, and the positioning of amenities — comfortable seating clusters, private restrooms, and cashier booths — all work to extend dwell time on the floor. Specialized cocktail service bringing elevated hospitality directly to guests while they play is specifically called out as a design priority, signaling that F&B programming is no longer ancillary to the gaming offer but integral to it.

General Manager Bill Callahan framed the investment as a reflection of guest expectations: "We've expanded the space while elevating every aspect of the environment, from the design and gaming offerings to the service and amenities, resulting in a sophisticated and distinctly Ocean experience that reflects the level of quality our high-limit guests have come to expect from us."

Broader Context

The Cove project fits a wider capital deployment story at Ocean. The property recently doubled the footprint of its Asian gaming space to 8,000 square feet, adding 32 tables including Baccarat and Pai Gow Poker. The dining portfolio — anchored by concepts from restaurateurs Stephen Starr and José Garces — reinforces the resort's positioning as a full-service luxury destination rather than a gaming-only draw, a strategic posture that mirrors trends seen across casino hospitality and resort F&B development.

The Cove's coastal design language — wave-inspired architectural forms, light oak, luminous marble, brushed gold, and layered ocean blues — draws a direct line between the property's Boardwalk location and its interior identity. That kind of place-specific design storytelling has become a signature tool for properties competing in the premium segment, where the physical environment is itself a retention mechanism. Operators in restaurant and hospitality design are watching similar approaches play out across full-service resorts seeking to differentiate their premium tiers.
