Chicago's Only Nutella Café Reopens with Fresh Design Ferrero has relaunched its Nutella Café at 189 N.
Michigan Avenue with a complete renovation, expanded menu, and new digital ordering capabilities. The reimagined space draws design inspiration from the iconic Nutella jar, featuring a custom ordering station, swirling bronze mesh ceiling, and textured walls meant to echo the brand's signature chocolate hazelnut spread. "Chicago is home to something truly unique, the world's only permanent Nutella Café, and we could not be more honored to welcome guests back," said Richard Fossali, Vice President and General Manager of Fannie May and Nutella Café. "While the space has been completely reimagined, it still delivers everything fans love about the Café."
New Menu Offerings and Digital Features The expanded menu introduces Nutella Tiramisu Cups, Nutella Mocha Frappes, Nutella Milkshakes, Nutella Ice Cream Cones, and assorted new gelato flavors from Ferrero partner Vero Gelato. Nutella Peanut Spread is now available as an add-on to café favorites. Guests can still customize Nutella jars, a longtime staple, alongside new merchandise including tumblers, key chains, and mini totes. Order-ahead functionality arrives soon, allowing customers to order for pickup or join a waitlist to be notified when their table is ready. The redesigned space includes dedicated zones for merchandise, ordering, and dining, along with feature walls designed for social media moments. The café approaches its 10th anniversary in 2027. The renovation marks what Ferrero describes as the beginning of its next chapter for the destination, which attracts both Chicago locals and international visitors.
Why It Matters
For foodservice operators and retail concepts, the Nutella Café's expansion—particularly its order-ahead system and merchandise integration—demonstrates how branded destination venues are modernizing to improve throughput and customer flow during peak times while maintaining the experiential draw that differentiates them from standard quick-service competitors.
