Mission Foods](https://www.missionfoods.com) is expanding its Better for You snack portfolio with four new tortilla-style chip varieties designed to meet growing consumer demand for functional ingredients and cleaner labels. The Irving, Texas-based brand launched Mission® Protein Tortilla Style Chips in Chile Limón and Jalapeño flavors, and Mission® Grain Free Tortilla Style Chips in Sea Salt and Hint of Lime—all available now at Kroger and its affiliates, with a broader retail rollout continuing through fall 2026.

The Products

The Protein Tortilla Style Chips deliver 10 grams of plant-based protein per serving and carry gluten-free and vegan certifications—attributes that have become increasingly relevant across foodservice and retail snack programs alike. The Grain Free line is built around 100% cassava flour, whole chia seeds, and avocado oil, with non-GMO ingredients throughout. Both grain free varieties are positioned as a good source of fiber, adding another functional claim to the lineup.

Sathish Mohanraju, VP of Sales and Marketing for Mission Foods, framed the launches as a direct response to consumer feedback. "Protein and fiber are two things people are trying to get more of, and snacks are a great place to do it," he said. "Our Protein chips offer 10 grams of plant-based protein per serving, and our Grain Free chips are a good source of fiber, so people can enjoy a snack that works for them."

Why It Matters for Operators

For foodservice and hospitality buyers, the expansion signals where Mission Foods is placing its innovation bets: better-for-you snack formats with a short, recognizable ingredient deck. Cassava-based and high-protein chip SKUs have been among the faster-growing segments in the broader snack category, driven by consumers who scrutinize labels and seek options that align with dietary preferences—from grain-free and paleo-adjacent eating patterns to vegan and high-protein lifestyles.

Restaurants, hotels, and convenience-focused foodservice concepts that offer branded snack options—whether in grab-and-go cases, amenity packs, or catered settings—stand to benefit from Mission's retail distribution momentum. Broader retail availability typically precedes or accelerates foodservice interest, as consumer familiarity with a brand lowers the barrier to menu or retail placement. What's Next

Mission Foods has not specified which additional retailers are slated to carry the new SKUs beyond Kroger's network, but confirmed the rollout will continue through fall 2026. The brand, which began U.S. operations in 1977 and now operates more than twenty domestic plants alongside international facilities in Europe, Asia, and Mexico, has been steadily building out its better-for-you portfolio as the competitive snack aisle intensifies.
