Vermont craft brewer Lawson's Finest Liquids has entered the fast-growing non-alcoholic beer segment with Sip'N, its first NA IPA — and the brewery's process sets it apart from most competitors in the category. Rather than stripping alcohol from a fully fermented beer via reverse osmosis or vacuum distillation, Lawson's built flavor from the ground up using a specialized maltose-negative yeast that naturally limits alcohol production during fermentation. The result clocks in at fewer than 0.5% ABV and approximately 100 calories per can.

The Brewing Difference

The fermentation-forward approach preserves what craft IPA drinkers actually show up for: hop aroma, body, and finish. Sip'N is brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops, delivering aromas of tropical fruit, stone fruit, pine, florals, and fresh-cut grass. The beer pours a light straw color with a smooth, medium-bodied mouthfeel, mild sweetness, and a lingering hop bitterness — characteristics that conventional alcohol-removal methods can blunt or strip entirely. For on-premise operators stocking NA options, that sensory fidelity matters; guests who choose non-alcoholic rarely want a compromise.

"At Lawson's Finest, we've always believed that every beer we put our name on has to deliver an exceptional drinking experience," said Sean Lawson, Founding Brewer of Lawson's Finest Liquids. "We took the time to develop a brew that stays true to our hop-forward brewing philosophy and delivers the quality, flavor, and craftsmanship our community expects."

Operator and Retail Implications

Sip'N is available now in all markets where Lawson's Finest is distributed — currently 12 states — in 12-ounce six-packs. Like every product in the Lawson's portfolio, Sip'N is cold stored, cold shipped, and cold shelved, with a 90-day shelf life. That cold-chain requirement is a relevant consideration for both retail buyers and bar and restaurant operators managing NA inventory alongside traditional draft and packaged beer programs.

CEO Adeline Druart framed the launch as both a consumer-response play and a brand-expansion tool. "Sip'N unlocks new opportunities to bring people into our brand and reinforces our belief that exceptional brews should be accessible for every moment and every lifestyle," she said.

The timing aligns with a broader industry shift that beverage industry analysts have tracked for several years: sober-curious consumers are no longer a niche, and craft breweries that lack a credible NA offering risk losing occasion share to competitors who have one. For restaurant and hospitality buyers, a recognized craft IPA brand entering the NA space with a differentiated product gives them a story to tell on menus and tap lists — not just a checkbox SKU. Our restaurant beverage coverage has documented how operators increasingly treat NA as a full beverage-program category rather than an afterthought.

Founded in 2008 as a one-barrel nanobrewery by Sean and Karen Lawson, Lawson's Finest is a B-Corp certified company whose Social Impact Program has raised more than $3 million for community causes since 2018. The brewery operates a destination taproom in Waitsfield, Vermont, and is best known for its Sunshine family of IPAs.
