Mexican dairy brand LALA U.S., Inc. has grown its U.S. cheese portfolio from three SKUs at the start of 2026 to 14 by the end of September — a near five-fold expansion in under nine months that signals serious ambition in the fast-growing Hispanic cheese segment.
The new lineup covers Queso Fresco, Oaxaca, Panela, Cotija, and Hispanic Shreds across multiple formats, including a Cotija shaker bottle, resealable Oaxaca Bites, and Queso Fresco sizes ranging from 5 ounces to a 35.3-ounce kilo format. Retail price points start at $1.99 for Queso Fresco and top out at $4.99 for Oaxaca Bites, positioning the brand across both entry-level trial and premium snacking occasions.
Why the Segment Matters
The commercial case is hard to ignore. According to Circana data covering 52 weeks ending August 9, 2026, Hispanic cheese is now a $1.1 billion retail category expanding at an 11% four-year compound annual growth rate — more than five times the 2% CAGR recorded by the $22.8 billion mainstream cheese category over the same period. Queso Fresco holds the largest share within the segment, while Hispanic Shreds rank second and are growing the fastest, making both logical anchors for a portfolio build-out.
For foodservice operators and retail buyers, the numbers underscore a broader consumer shift: demand for authentic Latin flavors is moving well beyond the specialty aisle and into everyday meal occasions. Operators sourcing ingredients for Mexican-inspired menus or adding grab-and-go dairy options stand to benefit as more recognizable brands invest in consistent supply and standardized formats. Portfolio and Campaign Details
LALA entered 2026 with a 10-ounce Queso Fresco, a 10-ounce Oaxaca ball, and a 10-ounce Panela round. Four SKUs were added in Q2; seven more arrived at the end of September. The new Cotija lineup alone comes in four formats — grated 8-ounce and 14-ounce bags, an 8-ounce shaker bottle, and an 8-ounce wedge — giving operators and home cooks flexible finishing options across dishes from elotes to grain bowls. The Oaxaca Bites, cut into resealable 8-ounce bags, offer seven grams of protein per serving and are positioned for lunchbox and snacking channels.
"We are building a complete portfolio that brings together the authentic varieties Hispanic consumers know and love with formats, convenience and meal inspiration that can introduce these cheeses to an even broader group of shoppers," said Flavia Panza, Chief Marketing Officer of LALA U.S., Inc. The company also redesigned its packaging with food photography that suggests specific applications, a move aimed at reducing the purchase hesitation of shoppers newer to Hispanic varieties.
Supporting the launch is a new brand platform called ¡Ya Quedó! — a campaign rooted in the cultural idea of a meal reaching its finishing touch. The integrated effort spans digital, social, influencer content, shopper marketing, and in-store sampling, with cross-merchandising planned alongside LALA's Crema Mexicana line. The No. 1 milk brand in Mexico — reaching 97% of Mexican households according to Nielsen and Worldpanel by Numerator data — LALA carries significant brand equity among Hispanic consumers, which the U.S. operation is now actively converting into retail shelf space. All 14 SKUs are available at select Hispanic grocery stores and other retailers nationwide.
