New Luxury Property Anchors Santa Cruz Beachfront La Bahia Hotel
& Spa has opened on Main Beach in Santa Cruz, California, marking the coastal town's first luxury hospitality concept. The property features 155 ocean-view guestrooms and nearly two dozen suites, a restored century-old landmark bell tower, and Spanish-Mediterranean architecture that blends historic beachfront character with modern amenities.
Dining and Wellness Offerings The hotel operates four culinary concepts across the property.
High Tide serves as the fine-dining anchor, while Low Tide operates as a bar and grill. Pearl, a London-inspired lobby bar, and Plunge, a poolside cabana bar, round out the food and beverage portfolio. Wellness amenities include a full-service spa with a sauna overlooking Monterey Bay, four outdoor treatment rooms, and a Riviera-inspired pool and deck. Guest services feature a Beach Butler program, sunrise yoga, and partnerships with brands including Lincoln and Almond Surfboards.
Fourth of July Programming For Independence Day weekend (July 3–5),
La Bahia is offering themed dining experiences. A rooftop BBQ on July 4th will feature a live performance by soul-rock band Los Survivors with ocean and boardwalk views. Guests can enjoy a wagyu burger paired with Dom Pérignon at Low Tide, a tomahawk steak for two at High Tide, Champagne flights at Pearl, and complimentary red, white, and blue popsicles at Plunge. A specialty Fourth of July cocktail and mocktail menu will be available throughout the weekend.
Why It Matters The opening represents a significant investment in
Santa Cruz's hospitality infrastructure, positioning the town as a high-end beach destination that complements its existing surf culture. The property's four distinct dining concepts and wellness amenities offer operators insight into how luxury hotels are differententiating through F&B and experiential programming in competitive coastal markets.
