Kellogg's Raisin Bran is taking its sports-marketing experiment from a single tournament moment to a multi-day brand platform, partnering with Major League Pickleball's New Jersey Fives to reprise "The Fibes" identity at the MLP 2026 Championship Weekend in New York City's Central Park, August 28–30.
The activation, developed with VaynerMedia, converts a Central Park practice court — painted in the brand's signature magenta and purple — into a consumer sampling and play experience where attendees can try Kellogg's Raisin Bran, pick up free merchandise, and meet mascot Sunny. The campaign extends what began as a one-off rebrand at MLP's Mid-Season Tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan, into a sustained nutrition-meets-fandom platform. For food and beverage marketers, the format illustrates how CPG brands are migrating beyond traditional sponsorship signage toward immersive, on-site consumer education experiences tied to ingredient benefits.
Fiber as the Hook
The brand's creative hook is a digestive wellness message dressed in sports culture. Kellogg's Raisin Bran contains 7 grams of fiber per serving, and WK Kellogg Co is leaning on a frequently cited statistic from the 2020–2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans — that 95% of Americans fall short of recommended fiber intake — to frame the product as both a nutrition solution and an athletic performance staple. The approach mirrors broader food and beverage industry trends toward functional ingredient storytelling rather than traditional taste-first messaging.
"The Fibes showed us that fiber can show up in culture in unexpected ways and genuinely connect with fans," said Doug VanDeVelde, Chief Growth Officer at WK Kellogg Co. "Pickleball gives us an unexpected, relevant and incredibly fun platform to bring that message to life."
Ryan Harwood, CEO of Gallery Media Group and co-owner of the New Jersey Fives, noted that the activation's first run succeeded because it avoided feeling like a conventional sports sponsorship. "It gave our players and fans something they could genuinely participate in," he said, pointing to fan participation as the differentiator that earned the partnership a second chapter.
What Operators Can Take Away
For foodservice and hospitality operators, the Fibes model is worth watching as a case study in experiential nutrition marketing. As gut health and fiber intake become mainstream consumer talking points — driven by the broader rise of functional foods on menus and in beverage product development — brands are increasingly seeking partnerships that place products in active, aspirational contexts rather than passive shelf or screen placements.
MLP Commissioner Samin Odhwani called the 2026 season "record-breaking for the business across the board" and credited franchise-level partnership work — including the Fives-Kellogg's collaboration — as a material driver of league growth. That trajectory signals continued appetite among emerging sports properties for CPG brand investment, a dynamic that hospitality and foodservice companies with naming-rights or stadium-concession exposure should factor into their own sponsorship calculus.
Official Fibes merchandise is available at kelloggstore.com, adding a commerce layer to what is otherwise a sampling-and-awareness play — a structure increasingly common as food brands look to convert event foot traffic into direct consumer relationships.
