Taste America Los Angeles Celebration Announced The James Beard Foundation is returning its Taste America culinary series to Los Angeles on October 6 at 7 PM at the LINE Hotel. The walk-around tasting will feature more than 10 of the city's independent restaurants, with proceeds supporting the Foundation's mission to champion independent dining establishments nationwide. TasteTwenty chefs Anna Sonenshein and Niki Vahle of Little Fish will host the evening. Both were recently named to the James Beard Foundation's 2026–2027 TasteTwenty, an annual list recognizing 20 emerging chefs across the country "whose talent, creativity, and leadership are helping shape the future of American dining."
Restaurant Lineup and Participating Chefs The event will showcase participating chefs from Linden, Bridgetown Roti, Komal, KI, RasaRumah, Camélia, Maydan LA, Azizam, and Betsy. Several participating chefs hold James Beard Award nominations or semifinalist designations, including Rashida Holmes of Bridgetown Roti, Fátima Juárez of Komal, and Charles Namba of Camélia. Attendees will sample signature bites and beverages while connecting with Los Angeles's culinary community. The event is presented by American Express and Resy, with sponsorship from Deloitte, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., and other partners.
Event Context and Mission Taste America is in its 14th year, operating across 20 U.S. cities.
According to Clare Reichenbach, CEO of the James Beard Foundation, "We're thrilled to bring this celebration to Los Angeles, where guests will sample exceptional bites from some of the city's most dynamic talent, connect with their local food community, and raise a glass to the chefs leading our industry forward through both craft and purpose." Tickets are on sale at jamesbeard.org/events/taste-america-los-angeles.
Why It Matters
For operators in LA's independent restaurant sector, the event signals the Foundation's continued focus on supporting smaller establishments amid broader industry pressures. The elevation of Sonenshein and Vahle through the TasteTwenty designation also reflects the Foundation's strategy in identifying and promoting emerging culinary talent that shapes dining trends.
