Scott Wallace has been promoted to Chief Customer Officer at Horizon Family Brands, the Colorado-based wellness portfolio company behind Horizon Organic, Maple Hill Creamery, and Wallaby Organic yogurt. The move elevates Wallace from his prior role as senior vice president of sales and signals a sharper organizational focus on retailer and commercial partnerships as competition in the organic dairy category intensifies.

The New Role

As CCO, Wallace will work across sales, marketing, operations, and brand teams to deepen customer engagement and identify shared-growth opportunities with retail partners. His mandate spans omnichannel strategy, wholesale and distribution channels, and data-driven sales management — a broad remit that reflects how critically organic CPG brands depend on shelf placement and retailer collaboration to reach consumers. For foodservice and grocery buyers, the appointment suggests Horizon Family Brands is investing in more senior-level account relationships.

Wallace's Background

Wallace joined Horizon Family Brands in November 2023 as vice president of sales and was elevated to senior vice president in 2025. Before arriving at Horizon Family Brands, he held leadership roles at Danone, Kellogg Company, and Procter & Gamble, giving him a cross-category perspective on how large retail networks are managed. He also brings experience from Viega LLC and began his career as a U.S. Army officer, reaching the rank of captain after service in field artillery and military intelligence. His academic credentials include a systems engineering degree from West Point, an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a master's in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University.

"Since joining us in 2023, Scott has demonstrated a strong customer-first mindset, commercial leadership, and a commitment to bringing teams together around shared goals," said Tyler Holm, CEO of Horizon Family Brands. Holm added that Wallace's understanding of the company's categories, brands, and channels will be critical as the company pursues long-term growth.

Organic Dairy Momentum

The promotion comes at a moment when organic dairy and plant-adjacent wellness brands are under growing pressure to differentiate on retail shelves, particularly as private-label organic options expand at major grocery chains. Horizon Organic, Maple Hill Creamery, and Wallaby Organic each occupy distinct niches — fluid organic milk, grass-fed dairy, and organic yogurt, respectively — requiring a coordinated but brand-specific approach to retail partnerships. A dedicated CCO role centralizes that function in ways that a VP of sales structure typically cannot.

For operators and buyers tracking better-for-you dairy sourcing, Wallace's cross-functional charter — spanning traditional retail, omnichannel platforms, and commercial channels — points to Horizon Family Brands' intent to grow beyond its core grocery footprint. The company's three brands have long been anchors of the natural and organic channel, and a more senior customer-facing executive could accelerate conversations with foodservice distributors and specialty retailers looking to expand certified organic dairy offerings.
