Hook & Reel is marking its 10th anniversary with a menu expansion that adds three new pre-set seafood boils at participating locations nationwide — a move that broadens the Cajun-inspired chain's format options as it pushes past 70 U.S. units.
The new additions range from a single-diner option to a feast designed for up to 10 guests, giving operators a structured entry point for customers who may be unfamiliar with the build-your-own boil format. Each pre-set includes a curated seafood-and-accompaniment combination while preserving the brand's core customization mechanic: guests still choose their Hook & Reel sauce and spice level.
The New Boil Lineup
The three additions span a wide party-size spectrum. The Perfect Storm is a solo format combining a snow crab cluster, head-off shrimp and black mussels with corn and potatoes. The Boil Trio is a two-person shareable featuring two snow crab clusters, head-off shrimp and crawfish, plus corn and potatoes. Lobster Party, designed for two to three guests, leads with two lobster tails and two snow crab clusters alongside two pounds of head-off shrimp, broccoli, corn and potatoes.
For a chain that built its identity around customization and communal eating, the pre-set structure represents a meaningful menu engineering shift. It lowers the decision barrier for first-time guests while creating upsell opportunities — particularly the Lobster Party format, which anchors premium proteins at the center of the table experience.
A Decade of Cajun Growth
"We believe seafood should be for everyone," said Daniel Foster, Hook & Reel Manager. "Whether you know exactly how you like your boil or you're trying one for the first time, at Hook & Reel you can choose the seafood, flavors and level of heat that work for you."
The anniversary milestone comes as the broader casual seafood dining segment continues to compete for share-of-stomach against fast-casual disruptors. Hook & Reel's communal, hands-on format — bib-and-bag eating in a restaurant setting — has long differentiated it from both white-tablecloth seafood houses and counter-service competitors. The pre-set boils reinforce that positioning by making the experience more navigable without abandoning the brand's tactile, social DNA.
For operators tracking menu innovation trends in foodservice, the tiered portion architecture — individual, couple, and small-group — reflects a broader industry pattern of restaurants engineering menus to capture solo diners and large-party occasions under the same roof. At more than 70 locations, Hook & Reel has the scale to test whether structured boil formats can meaningfully lift check averages and table turns across diverse markets.
