Holland America Line has debuted four original live productions on its Oosterdam vessel, all developed exclusively with entertainment production company RWS Global, marking one of the cruise line's most significant entertainment expansions in recent memory. The rollout signals a broader industry push by premium hospitality operators to anchor guest spending and loyalty around curated live experiences rather than amenities alone.

The Rolling Stone Headliner

The marquee production is "All Access: The Songs That Shaped Us," a full-stage rock concert co-created with Rolling Stone that features live musicians, vocalists, and dancers performing music from The Eagles, Janis Joplin, Van Halen, and Fleetwood Mac. The show builds directly on the existing Rolling Stone Lounge venue already installed on most Holland America ships — a format that proved guest appetite for brand-anchored music programming. Craig Laurie, chief creative officer of RWS Global, said the lounge's success demonstrated that guests "crave authentic, brand-driven entertainment rooted in nostalgia," prompting the step up to a fully realized theatrical production. Julian Holguin, chief executive officer of Rolling Stone, framed the partnership as an extension of the brand's core editorial identity: connecting audiences to music that shapes how people feel and create memories.

The Full Production Slate

The three additional shows round out a deliberately varied entertainment menu. "Fosse and Verdon, the Duet That Changed Broadway," created in partnership with the Verdon Fosse Legacy®, was previously launched on Koningsdam and transfers to Oosterdam with archival audio and video content drawn from productions including Chicago, Cabaret, and Sweet Charity. "Disco Fever" leans into 1970s nostalgia with hits including "Le Freak" and "It's Raining Men," while "Decadence" blends Las Vegas showgirl spectacle with Hollywood glamour. Joe Chantry, vice president of entertainment and enrichment for Holland America Line, said the lineup was shaped by direct guest feedback calling for "more visually impressive productions with incredible music and memorable performances."

For hospitality operators watching onboard food-and-beverage programming, the entertainment strategy is instructive: each show is designed to pull guests toward the ship's public venues during evening hours, driving bar and dining revenue that might otherwise dissipate. Premium cruise lines have increasingly treated live entertainment as a traffic-generation tool for their F&B outlets, and Holland America's partnership model — aligning productions with recognizable media brands rather than developing anonymous in-house content — reflects a calculated investment in perceived value.

Broader Context

The four shows are live now on Oosterdam, with sample voyages ranging from an August 2026 14-day Greece, Italy, and French Riviera sailing starting at $113 per person per day to a December 2026 22-day South America and Antarctica itinerary starting at $230 per person per day. The productions also arrive ahead of a larger physical transformation: Oosterdam is the first of six ships slated for full revitalization under Holland America Evolution, the line's most ambitious guest-experience upgrade in its 153-year history, with Oosterdam's renovations scheduled to debut in December 2027.

The RWS Global partnership underscores how live entertainment and hospitality continue to converge as operators across segments — from cruise lines to resort dining venues — compete for experiential spend. RWS Global, which produces more than one million live moments daily across cruise lines, theme parks, and sports properties, brings the scale and theatrical infrastructure that individual hospitality brands rarely develop in-house.
