Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming are broadening their PlayersEdge responsible gambling program this September, adding a consumer-facing education campaign, a digital health app pilot, and a new academic research collaboration timed to Responsible Gambling Education Month (RGEM).

The 'Chance' Campaign

The centerpiece of this year's RGEM push is the new 'Chance' Campaign, rolling out across Hard Rock Casino properties during September. The campaign targets a persistent misconception — that players can predict or influence gambling outcomes — and centers on a single message: outcomes cannot be controlled, but playing behavior can be. The initiative is part of PlayersEdge's segmented education strategy, which addresses the full spectrum of player profiles from casual newcomers to frequent visitors.

Responsible gambling education has been embedded in Hard Rock Casino and Seminole Gaming team member training since 2021, and the PlayersEdge framework combines player education, staff training, research, and intervention resources into a single operating structure. "Through PlayersEdge, we continue to invest in innovative education, research and training initiatives that help advance positive play while strengthening our ability to support guests who may need assistance," said Paul Pellizzari, Vice President of Global Social Responsibility for Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming.

Digital Health and Research Moves

Building on a recent three-month pilot at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati, Hard Rock International is evaluating whether to continue the Almond Digital Health app program in Cincinnati and potentially expand it to additional properties. The app offered guests an anonymous, multilingual platform to support healthier gambling behaviors and connect them with support resources — a model that aligns with broader digital wellness trends shaping hospitality guest experience programs.

On the research side, PlayersEdge is partnering with Dr. Michael Wohl and his team at Carleton University on a study spanning five Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming casinos. The independently funded research — backed by the International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG) — will examine casino supervisors' and managers' experiences interacting with at-risk players, with the goal of identifying organizational factors that support or obstruct effective responsible gambling delivery.

Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming also became a founding member of the Better Gambling Forum, a multisector coalition operating as an initiative of the Brain Capital Alliance and working in collaboration with the G7, United Nations, and World Economic Forum. The Forum is developing evidence-based frameworks around brain health, mental resilience, and cognitive capital as they relate to gambling.

Operator Implications

For hospitality operators across the gaming and entertainment sectors, Hard Rock's multi-pronged approach signals a shift from compliance-driven responsible gambling programs toward proactive, research-backed player health infrastructure. The Almond Digital Health pilot in particular reflects a growing appetite for technology-enabled wellness tools that can be layered onto existing restaurant and hospitality loyalty and guest-engagement platforms. Hard Rock's Unity™ loyalty program already rewards members across participating properties, and digital health touchpoints represent a natural extension of that guest relationship ecosystem.

Hard Rock recently published its latest Social Responsibility Report, titled Amplified Impact, covering responsible gambling alongside anti-human trafficking efforts, environmental sustainability, and community impact. The full report is available at hardrock.com/social-responsibility.
