LA's Premium Italian Ice Brand Opens First Disney Location

Happy Ice, the Los Angeles-based Philadelphia Italian ice brand, is launching a cart at the Downtown Disney District this month, marking the chain's first location at a major theme park destination.

Founded in 2017 by Philadelphia native Lemeir Mitchell as a food truck operation, Happy Ice has grown from a single vehicle into a regional brand known for fruit-forward flavors and colorful branding. The Downtown Disney location represents the brand's first fully all-natural menu rollout.

All-Natural Positioning

The new cart will feature handcrafted Philadelphia water ice made with real fruit, pure cane sugar, and premium ingredients, free from high-fructose corn syrup and artificial dyes—a differentiation from the company's existing menu offerings.

New Product Introductions

Happy Ice is introducing JOY-LATI, a layered dessert combining Italian ice, vanilla sweet cream, sauces, and fresh fruit in nostalgic flavors such as Banana Pudding and Strawberry Shortcake. The menu will also include new specialty flavors—Berry Bonanza and Cloud 9—alongside fruit-based sauces and monthly rotating exclusives.

Why It Matters

For operators, the Disney expansion signals how regional QSR brands are leveraging entertainment destinations to reach affluent, family-oriented consumers. The focus on all-natural ingredients and premium positioning reflects broader consumer demand for transparent sourcing in frozen treats, while the JOY-LATI innovation addresses growing appetite for Instagram-worthy, multi-component desserts in high-traffic settings.
