New Features Target Business Productivity

Google has rolled out a suite of enhancements to Workspace aimed at streamlining customer-facing operations and reducing administrative overhead for teams.

The updates include three primary capabilities: seamless appointment booking, AI-assisted email composition via Gemini, and enhanced document management with eSignature integration.

Appointment Booking Without Third-Party Tools

Workspace users can now create professional booking pages that accept unlimited customer appointments directly within the platform, eliminating the need for standalone scheduling software.

Gemini Integration Cuts Email Time

Gemini in Gmail now assists users in composing emails, positioning itself as a time-saver for communication-heavy roles. According to Rahul Rao, Chief Technology Officer at Understood.org: "Our fundraising and partnerships team is responsible for an extensive amount of external communications. Gemini has had a huge impact on how the team is able to work, saving the team upwards of 2 hours a day."

The feature allows users to draft messages faster while maintaining professional quality.

Document Features and Digital Contracts

Google is also promoting premium capabilities in Sheets, Docs, and Forms for organizing customer interactions, alongside eSignature functionality that enables contracts to be executed directly within Docs or Drive.

Why It Matters

For restaurant and hospitality operators, these tools address common pain points: managing customer reservations, handling volume communications, and processing agreements—all without integrating multiple third-party platforms. The 2-hour daily savings cited by Understood.org suggests tangible ROI for communication-intensive operations, though independent verification would be needed to assess impact across different business types.
