Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts](https://www.fourseasons.com) is moving into Tangier with a new cliffside resort at the Cap Malabata development, marking the brand's fourth property in Morocco and adding a significant luxury hospitality asset to a North African market that has been steadily attracting high-end investment.
The project is a joint venture with Royal Resort Cap Malabata, a master-planned ultra-luxury development backed by GFH Bank, an Islamic wholesale bank headquartered in Bahrain with approximately US$24 billion in assets and funds under management. The resort sits where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar with views across to Spain — a geographic distinction that gives the property a rare dual-coast identity.
The Property
Designed by Arjitec with interiors by Goddard Littlefair, Four Seasons Resort Tangier will feature 99 guest rooms and suites, including 27 standalone villas, and more than 260 metres (850 feet) of waterfront. Four signature dining venues are planned, blending local Moroccan flavors with international cuisine — a programming choice consistent with Four Seasons' broader strategy of anchoring food and beverage experiences to regional culinary identity. The resort will also include a full-service spa and fitness center, expansive pool and waterfront lounging areas, and the brand's Kids For All Seasons program. Flexible indoor and outdoor event spaces round out the property, targeting the meetings, incentives, and celebrations segment alongside leisure travelers.
For hospitality operators tracking luxury F&B development in emerging destinations, the multi-venue dining concept here reflects a wider pattern in luxury resort food and beverage programming — properties are increasingly using culinary identity as a competitive differentiator rather than a secondary amenity.
Location and Market Context
The resort is approximately 15 minutes from Tangier's high-speed train station and 45 minutes from Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport, positioning it for both international arrivals and domestic Moroccan travelers. Tangier has been gaining profile as a regional business and tourism hub, and the Cap Malabata development — spanning 1.10 million square meters and designed to host four hotels — is a significant infrastructure bet on the city's continued growth.
"As our fourth property in Morocco, Four Seasons Resort Tangier expands our collection in one of the region's most compelling destinations," said Ricardo Suarez, Group Head of Development at Four Seasons. "We look forward to bringing this exceptional project to life and creating a Resort that reflects the character of Tangier while offering guests the opportunity to experience its unique coastal setting alongside the service excellence that defines Four Seasons."
Four Seasons currently operates 140 hotels and resorts across 47 countries, with a global pipeline of more than 60 projects under development. The brand also operates more than 600 restaurants and bars globally — a portfolio scale that gives its culinary and beverage programs significant influence over luxury hospitality dining trends. The Tangier property joins Four Seasons Hotel Casablanca, Four Seasons Resort Marrakech, and Four Seasons Hotel Rabat at Kasr Al Bahr in the brand's Morocco collection.
