Feed the Children](https://www.feedthechildren.org/) has added three directors to its board of directors effective this September, bolstering the nonprofit's leadership with expertise in marketing technology, financial strategy, and artificial intelligence as it scales its global child-hunger mission.

Emily Callahan, president and CEO of Feed the Children, framed the appointments as essential to the organization's next phase. "Creating a world where no child goes to bed hungry takes strong leadership, bold thinking and deep collaboration," she said. "Dan, Davinder and Fred bring the expertise and perspective that will strengthen our Board and help advance our global movement to end child hunger."

The New Directors

Dan Aptor joins from Accenture, where he serves as director of MarTech and Commerce Transformation. His resume spans AT&T, United Way, Solera Holdings, Ticketmaster/Live Nation, The Walt Disney Company, and NBCUniversal — a breadth of experience that signals Feed the Children's intent to sharpen its donor engagement and digital outreach capabilities. Aptor also chairs the board of The Blackbaud Giving Fund, a global donor-advised fund, deepening his ties to the nonprofit sector.

Davinder Athwal brings more than 25 years of financial and governance experience across internationally listed public companies. He currently serves as executive vice president and CFO of Landis+Gyr, a global energy technology firm listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. His background in capital allocation, enterprise risk management, and organizational transformation addresses a critical need for nonprofits operating across multiple countries and supply chains — including food distribution networks that demand rigorous financial oversight.

Fred Sham rounds out the trio as an independent adviser specializing in innovation, growth strategy, and AI. He previously served as a director at ?What If! Innovation, part of Accenture, where he worked with Fortune 500 companies and nonprofits to develop new products, services, and business models. His urban planning background — he holds a master's degree from Columbia University — also lends perspective on community-level food-access challenges.

Why It Matters for Food Relief

For food-industry operators and foodservice professionals, the governance moves at major hunger-relief organizations carry practical relevance. Feed the Children is a significant partner in food donation and surplus redistribution efforts that touch restaurant chains, food manufacturers, and grocery retailers across the U.S. and internationally. Strengthening the nonprofit's financial controls and digital infrastructure can streamline how industry partners coordinate large-scale food donations and community distribution programs.

The appointments also reflect a broader trend in the food-security nonprofit space: recruiting corporate executives with technology and data fluency to modernize operations, improve supply-chain transparency, and expand reach. For hospitality and foodservice companies exploring CSR partnerships, a more digitally capable Feed the Children could mean faster, more accountable collaboration on hunger-relief initiatives.

Rhonda Hooper, board chair for Feed the Children and president and CEO of Jordan Advertising, noted that the new directors' combined skill sets will deepen the organization's stewardship and expand the partnerships needed to fulfill its mission.
