Farmer Mac (farmermac.com) has named Nader Pasdar Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer, effective August 17, 2026. Pasdar steps into a role vacated when Zachary N. Carpenter, who previously held the CBO title, was elevated to President and Chief Executive Officer on July 1.
Pasdar's Agribusiness Roots
Pasdar brings more than 25 years of agricultural finance, capital markets, and business leadership to the federally chartered secondary market lender. He joins from Rabobank, where he served as CEO of Rabo Securities and as Managing Director and Head of Markets North America—overseeing capital markets, sales, trading, business development, and compliance across the continent. As a founding member of Rabobank's loan syndication team, he helped execute hundreds of lead-arranged financings and built deep ties throughout the Farm Credit System, positioning Rabobank as a major capital markets participant in the North American food and agribusiness sector.
For operators and financial institutions that rely on rural credit availability, the hire signals that Farmer Mac intends to deepen its engagement with the agricultural lending community. The organization's secondary market role—providing liquidity to agricultural lenders, agribusinesses, and rural infrastructure borrowers—sits at the foundation of how regional banks and Farm Credit institutions fund everything from commodity production to food-processing supply chains. Expanded liquidity access at the wholesale level can translate directly into more competitive loan terms for farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses across the food and beverage supply chain.
What the Appointment Means
"Nader is a highly respected leader whose deep knowledge of agriculture, rural finance, and capital markets makes him an excellent fit for Farmer Mac and our mission," said CEO Carpenter. Pasdar's own comments echoed a focus on the institutions that underpin rural food production: "Throughout my career, I have been passionate about supporting the financial institutions, producers, agribusinesses, and rural businesses that help drive the rural economy."
Pasdar holds an M.B.A. in finance from Boston University's Questrom School of Business and a B.S. in economics from Temple University. His appointment arrives as Farmer Mac continues expanding beyond traditional farm mortgage programs into broadband infrastructure, power and utilities, and renewable energy financing—segments increasingly critical to modern foodservice and agricultural operations.
For industry professionals tracking agricultural supply chain finance or the broader beverage and food ingredient sourcing landscape, Farmer Mac's leadership evolution is worth monitoring: the lender's ability to attract institutional capital ultimately affects credit availability at the farm and co-op level, with ripple effects throughout the foodservice and food manufacturing sectors. Coverage of related agricultural finance developments is also available through Food & Beverage Magazine.
