Restaurant digital agency 3Owl and menu personalization platform EveryBite have formed a strategic partnership aimed at closing one of the most persistent gaps in the restaurant technology stack: the disconnect between what a brand knows about its guests and what those guests can actually eat.

The deal brings EveryBite's SmartMenu technology into 3Owl's portfolio of integrated digital experiences for multi-unit operators. SmartMenu lets guests dynamically filter a restaurant's menu by allergens, dietary preferences, ingredients, calories, protein, and other nutritional criteria — surfacing relevant items before a guest ever reaches checkout. EveryBite reports the platform has recorded more than 12 million menu interactions to date, with aggregated data indicating strong engagement and order intent among guests actively filtering by diet and allergen needs.

The Operator Problem

Today's restaurant technology stack already captures considerable guest intelligence — loyalty status, order history, preferred location, purchase cadence. What it has largely failed to capture is pre-decisional intent: the moment a guest decides whether a brand's menu can actually work for them. For the 33-plus million U.S. consumers managing food allergies, plus tens of millions more with specific dietary preferences or nutrition goals, that moment can determine whether they order, switch to a competitor, or abandon the session entirely.

"Restaurant brands have invested heavily in loyalty and digital ordering, but the menu itself still has an enormous amount of untapped intelligence," said Lucy Logan, Co-Founder of EveryBite. "A guest telling you they avoid dairy, want 30 grams of protein, or eat a vegetarian diet are telling you something incredibly valuable about what will ultimately influence their purchase."

SmartMenu and the EveryBite API are designed to layer onto existing infrastructure — connecting verified menu, nutrition, and allergen data with restaurant websites, ordering platforms, apps, and loyalty programs — rather than requiring operators to replace incumbent systems. That integration-first architecture aligns with how most multi-unit brands actually build their digital stacks, making the partnership's entry point relatively low-friction for operators already working with 3Owl.

What Brands Stand to Gain

For operators, the practical upside centers on first-party intent data that has historically been invisible. When a guest filters a menu by allergen or macro target, the brand learns something about that session — and potentially that guest's broader preferences — that no transaction record can reveal. Connecting that signal to loyalty and CRM systems creates a feedback loop that could sharpen personalization at every subsequent touchpoint.

"Personalization shouldn't begin at checkout," said Joseph Szala, Vice President and Partner of 3Owl. "The menu is one of the strongest expressions of guest intent. By bringing EveryBite's menu intelligence into the digital experiences we create, we can help brands make discovery easier, reduce friction and create experiences that become more relevant the more we understand about the guest."

The partnership is well-timed for an industry rethinking how digital guest journeys are structured. As restaurant technology investment continues to mature, operators are increasingly looking to squeeze more yield from existing digital infrastructure rather than deploy entirely new platforms. Embedding dietary and allergen intelligence earlier in the funnel — at menu discovery rather than at the cart — represents a relatively accessible upgrade for brands already building or refreshing their digital presence with an agency partner.

The integration also speaks to a broader shift in food and beverage industry personalization trends: consumers increasingly expect digital experiences to reflect their individual needs from the first screen, not as an afterthought buried in account settings. For multi-unit restaurant brands competing on digital experience as much as on food, meeting that expectation at the menu level could translate directly to improved conversion and repeat visit rates.
