Digital tipping and gratuity management platform eTip has joined the Toast Partner Ecosystem, giving Toast-powered restaurants a direct connection to automated tip pooling, instant employee payouts, and back-office reconciliation tools — all without manual data entry.

The integration imports sales and labor data from Toast point-of-sale systems to calculate tip pools, splits, and tip shares according to each restaurant's customized policies. Once a manager approves the distribution, funds move directly to employees' preferred bank accounts, cutting out cash handling, pay cards, and the spreadsheet workflows that have long burdened floor managers. For operators, that translates into fewer hours spent on end-of-shift reconciliation and reduced exposure to tip-compliance errors.

The Operator Problem

Despite the near-universal shift to digital payments in foodservice, most independent and chain restaurants still rely on manual processes to close out tip cycles. Managers routinely export POS data into spreadsheets, run point-of-sale reports by hand, or make bank runs to cover cash distributions — a workflow that creates compliance risk and pulls supervisors away from the floor. eTip's integration is designed to collapse that process into an automated approval step, a pain point that resonates across the restaurant technology coverage space as operators look for labor-saving tools.

What Toast Partners Get

eTip enters a network of more than 200 technology partners within the Toast ecosystem. Nick Danforth, Senior Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Toast, said the integration gives operators "an efficient way to automate tip management and payouts using two powerful solutions that work together seamlessly." Nicolas Cassis, CEO and co-founder of eTip, framed the integration as a solution to a persistent back-office burden: "Restaurants shouldn't have to choose between delivering exceptional guest experiences and spending hours managing tip distribution."

Beyond tip automation, eTip offers a broader financial wellness suite for hourly workers — including earned wage access, emergency savings tools, and credit-building products. Those features position the platform squarely in the growing conversation around hospitality workforce retention, where faster and more flexible pay access has become a tangible recruiting and retention lever for operators competing for frontline staff. The Toast integration makes this enterprise-grade toolset available to a much wider slice of the U.S. restaurant market, from independent operators to multi-unit groups already running on Toast infrastructure.
