New Indoor Experience Transforms Observation Deck Into Year-Round Destination
Edge NYC, the Western Hemisphere's highest indoor and outdoor sky deck, has unveiled seven immersive installations designed to draw visitors beyond the skyline views. The indoor experience—the largest transformation since the attraction opened in 2020—features interactive light installations, mirrored sculptures, and multi-sensory environments created in collaboration with experiential designers Moment Factory, SOFTlab, and Journey.
The installations span multiple levels from the Level 4 entry to the Level 100 sky deck and include motion-responsive displays, 200 spinning mirrored panels, and what the venue describes as NYC's largest kaleidoscope. Each installation is accompanied by original music soundscapes designed to shift with daylight and season.
The Seven Installations
PRISM transforms New York City imagery into shifting colors and patterns at the Level 4 entry.
PULSE features 450 color-changing orbs that respond to guest movement.
SKYRISE is a cinematic elevator simulating a 100-floor ascent in under 60 seconds.
REFLECTIONS spans two levels with 200 spinning mirrored panels that trigger responsive light shows.
KALEIDOSCOPE comprises four zones within one immersive room, including interactive photo spots with patterns designed for morning, afternoon, sunset, and night visits.
CRYSTAL CAVE features a 25-foot canopy of transparent, reflective crystals that interact with light throughout the day—potentially creating rainbows during daytime and transforming into an immersive light show after dark.
INFINITE CITY displays 18 large-scale illuminated columns inspired by New York skyscrapers, with mirrored and translucent surfaces that respond to movement.
Elevated Hospitality Offering
Edge has partnered with Tao Group Hospitality to overhaul its food and beverage program. New offerings include:
- Skyline Bar & Café: Elevated takes on NYC dishes including mini smoked bagel bites, Wagyu hot dogs, babka pastry sticks, and mini cannolis, plus handcrafted cocktails
- Peak with Priceless: A redesigned restaurant with fully reimagined interiors serving elevated American cuisine under Chef Ralph Scamardella, Chief Culinary Officer at Tao Group Hospitality
- Avenue Sky Lounge: A reimagined cocktail lounge offering elevated drinks and skyline views on Level 101
- Marquee Skydeck: A seasonal outdoor nightlife series featuring DJs and panoramic views at 1,100 feet above Manhattan
"The next era of Edge will take guests beyond the view," said Andrew Lustgarten, Executive Chairman of Hudson Yards Experiences. "We've created a multi-layered, immersive indoor-outdoor entertainment destination where exceptional hospitality, food and beverage offerings and experience make every visit feel like a once-in-a-lifetime New York City moment."
Location and Access
Edge NYC is located at 30 Hudson Yards, near Times Square, The High Line, and Chelsea. The observation deck offers 360-degree views from the 100th floor at 1,131 feet and operates year-round. Tickets are available at edgenyc.com. Mastercard cardholders can access exclusive Priceless Experiences, including priority and early access.
The venue is also launching special programming June 11-14, including live entertainment, DJs, and giveaways.
Why It Matters
For food and beverage operators, Edge's partnership with Tao Group Hospitality signals the growing convergence of hospitality, dining, and experiential entertainment in premium urban destinations. The investment in immersive indoor environments reflects consumer demand for year-round, weather-independent attractions that drive repeat visits—a model increasingly adopted by observation decks and venues nationwide competing for tourist and local spending.
