Earl of Sandwich has opened its largest and most immersive restaurant experience to date at the Downtown Disney District in Anaheim, California, marking the brand's return to the resort with a reimagined concept that blends heritage with new culinary theater.

The Carvery Takes Center Stage The flagship location introduces The Carvery, a centerpiece experience where premium pastrami is carved fresh throughout the day in view of guests. The centerpiece offering is the Earl's Pastrami, layered with premium slow-cooked pastrami, Swiss, sauerkraut, Dijonnaise, and Thousand Island on marbled rye. Traditional menu items remain available, including The Full Montagu and The Original 1762, alongside cold-cut deli sandwiches, handcrafted wraps, fresh salads, and other classics.

Expanded Beyond Sandwiches The new location extends the day-part strategy with an expanded bakery offering oversized cookies loaded with toppings, pillowy cinnamon rolls, and rotating seasonal specialties. The Pub, located within Earl of Sandwich, serves draft beers, wines, frozen cocktails, and seasonal beverages. The restaurant operates daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Heritage Meets Reimagination "We didn't want to simply build another Earl of Sandwich.

We wanted to create a destination worthy of the Downtown Disney District," said Robert Earl, founder of Earl of Sandwich. "Earl of Sandwich has always been rooted in a remarkable story, but history alone isn't enough. As Downtown Disney enters an exciting new chapter, we saw an opportunity to reimagine what Earl of Sandwich could be alongside it. This new location honors our heritage while creating moments of discovery around every corner, all while delivering the quality, exceptional value, and hospitality our guests have come to expect from us." Founded by Robert Earl in partnership with the Montagu family, the brand traces its lineage to 1762, when the 4th Earl of Sandwich inspired the eponymous meal. Luke Montagu, the 12th Earl of Sandwich, will attend the grand opening celebration on July 15. Earl of Sandwich operates 33 locations worldwide.

Why It Matters The flagship represents a strategic move to increase day-part coverage and attachment sales through expanded bakery and beverage offerings—a tactic gaining traction among fast-casual sandwich operators seeking to compete with QSR growth in premium segments. The carving theater model also addresses consumer demand for visible food preparation and value perception in higher-priced sandwich categories.
