New Leadership Position Fills Critical Operational Role The Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Michigan, has appointed Joseph Stetson as Director of Food & Beverage Operations, a newly created position overseeing all food and beverage service at the multipurpose venue. The appointment comes as the venue prepares for the Saginaw Spirit's 25th-anniversary season. Stetson brings more than 30 years of food-service leadership experience. His background includes roles as a traveling executive chef for major stadiums and convention centers, 13 years owning and operating a local fine-dining restaurant, and 13 years as Executive Corporate Chef at Dow Chemical.

Operational Focus and Priorities As Director, Stetson will oversee food and beverage service for all sporting events, concerts, family shows, conferences, banquets, and other events at the venue. His initial priorities include delivering consistent quality and reliable service for Saginaw Spirit games, strengthening operational efficiency and standards across all food and beverage operations, and developing partnerships with local and regional businesses to enhance the guest experience. "It's rare to find someone who's run high-volume venue operations at that level and also has real roots in this community," said Kevin Murphy, General Manager of The Dow Event Center. "Joseph brings both. That combination will matter as we head into the Spirit's 25th-anniversary season, and I expect our guests and partners will feel it in the day-to-day consistency." Andrew VanDeweghe, Regional Director of Food & Beverage for Legends Global—the venue's food and beverage operator and management partner—noted that Stetson's background positions the venue for growth. "His leadership, culinary expertise and commitment to consistency will elevate our food and beverage operations while creating new opportunities to showcase local flavors and deliver an outstanding experience for every guest," VanDeweghe said.

Why It Matters

Venue operators understand that consistent, high-quality food and beverage service directly impacts guest satisfaction, repeat attendance, and event profitability. A dedicated director overseeing these operations—particularly one with Stetson's mixed experience in both large-scale hospitality and community-focused establishments—can drive measurable improvements in service standards and operational efficiency across a multipurpose facility.
